Ok - I was bored !!

I just added up the totals for some of the highest drop sales I have been in at snapnames.

For just 28 names the total adds up to $368,837 !!! D-: eek - and a1.com which sold for $260,250 is not on that list ! They must be making many thousands of $ xxx sales on a monthly basis too.

Those guys are making an absolute killing - Does anyone know what percentage of the sale price they get ?

looks like another over $10,000 sale may be on its way, citycenter.com

At least they didn't get UCN.COM that dropped this week, Pool picked that up.

"Probably" because it has an overture with extension of 270 even then it would take many years to make aprofit on that name in PPC IMO

(would'nt this be seen as a possible TM problem ? )

I've seen some right mind bogglers for sure !

Boy snapnames sure gets most of the names. I've backordered a ton at Pool and the only one they caught was that UCN.com one mentioned above.

ps - I have a volkswagenrabbit for sale - the .net not the car :hehe:

You're in on the UCN bidding? Just curious, what's it up to so far?

Have said it many times, I wish there were a way to transfer my domains to snapnames and let them auction them....

Does this not mean that it's a great deal? A name which covers all of the vehicles (a very high selling car) is potentially worth lots in PPC, but a lot more to Honda if they wanted to avoid a legal challenge.

Two double letters in a row is quite rare though . . . .

Here's a question for you - What's the only word in the English language with 3 doubles in a row?

I know :talk:

Bookkeeping :lala:

How about the only English language dictionary word with four pairs of double letters in a row ????

They dont list the domains , only SELL ...... I had a few good ones ....... I contacted their support and that was what they said. :(

They also have to share revenues with their registrar-drop-partners, although I'm sure they still do quite well themselves.

I never said the domain wasn't a monster. It is an obvious type in, killer OWE, guaranteed revenue, and it is recognized all over the world.
My "head shake" is over the price.
$10,000 for a major TM that could be taken by Honda easily, isn't a good investment. How long would it take to make $10,000 by PPC ?
The only real way to monetize is through devolepment and that's where the TM issue comes in.

"Halvarez" and "Bonkers" are my idols. Big balls and bigger pockets.

Are any of you getting lucky, picking up names that will pay for themselves in less than 12 years? What percentage of the time do you fall upon success vs. make a mistake and buy a name that won't pay for itself in a 100 years?

Drop game is fun, but the prices are outragious most of the time (unless you have a good specific use for a domain).

I've had a few that paid for themselves in PPC in just over a year but not many - I don't bid that high

It must take alot of faith to pay $ 30,000 for a 2 word name with no PR - overture with extension score and no incmoing links !

Big Balls or just very confident it will sell !

Yep there is some big overbidding based on ppc these days...I keep clear and look for the odd bargain here and there. But I think many people are just saying its early days lets stack up and maybe in x years time we will be sitting on something unique like a van gogh...and good names like money.com are a no brainer as they will appreciate 10%-20% per year for many a year to come.

If one were to follow the so-called "big boys", very easy to spend $1 Million in a yr at the drops buying up mediocre crap ($3000 x 330) that we see weekly and have jack to show for it at the yr end - minimal traffic / waiting for the "end-user" to pay even more.

I'd rather be in Snapnames position any day.
Nothing like cold hard cash as opposed to "$1 M worth of illiquid domains".
