My old website used to be a site geared towards tutorials. Since that was taking a lot of my time, I decided to turn it into my portfolio. I also explain about my hosting prices and design prices. If you could please give me a review of http://www.bryannorthey.com/ that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

I like the color scheme, very well done. I would focus more on your work than pricing...just a little advice, as potential clients can be schemin' at times ;)

I'd add some more graphics in the content area to offset all the text and give it some more visual appeal. When a lot of viewers see all text, a mental alarm goes off that tells them "BORING."

Once you get a few more clients (and you don't need clients to post your artwork, mockups, random ideas, etc.) I'm sure you'll have plenty to post.

Congratulations on your start into web design and best wishes!

Thanks for the review. I just added a bunch of pictures to make it look more interesting. Let me know what you think now.

MUCH better! :) One quick suggestion - :imho: that spider web might look great if you edited the hue/saturation and color levels to have it somewhat "bronzed" like the rest of the site...

Tell me how that one flies. Other than that you're well on your way. I would always suggest to keep adding relevant content as often as you can. Give your viewers something to stick around for and your search engines reasons to think your important (that will come with time, energy and link campaigns, etc. etc. etc., but that's a different forum...).

Keep going, you're doing really well! Best of luck to you! %%-

Great suggestion. I just edited that photo and it looks amazing! Any other helpful suggestions on the design/layout/content?

For now, nothing but keep crankin out the content. If you want to delve into the development end, you could possibly start a weblog to go with it and post news, featured clients, advice, etc. That alone would generate a lot of content.

Blogs can be the simplest form of a dynamic site and you can learn so much from your first blog, that it will spill over into your ability to do other dynamic sites too. Expand your horizons! lol

I'd recommend the PHP Bible. It looks intimidating, but it's such a good reference and it will REALLY help you. Enjoy and Good Luck!

to be honest i dont like it. The header image makes it look like a parking site and it completely looks out of proportion on my laptop screen. Also, the color looks very unprofessional and dark.

cheers.

You're going to need at least 5 or so amazing portfolio entries before you see clients coming to you.
