After spending most of the past week using Opera Mini to try and keep up with the noise at NP I can personally comment that Opera Mini SUCKS for browsing on the phone. I don't trust Mowser.com with passwords and my phones native browser dies trying to load NP so Opera Mini is my best choice to view NP on my phone. But it's the most time consuming gawd awful experience imaginable. After this week I am even more convinced than before that the web must be redesigned to fit the small screen and the slow bandwidth. Tools like Opera Mini and Moser.com are painful to use filters that attempt to shove an elephant into a mouse hole and it doesn't work. Certainly better phones like the $500 iPhone will make it a bit less painful but the web is still an elephant and the phone is still a mouse hole. If given the choice, I will choose to use a site that is optimized for the small screen. .Mobi offers a sensible approach to dealing with this problem that nothing else compares with. This is why I think sites like sina.mobi and others are being built and offered to customers.

Well, the fact of the matter is that in Japan and South Korea, people are browsing the "mobile web" by the millions. You know, the 'mobile web' that the iphone commercial tries to imply that consumers are getting gyped with.

Why is it that every damn .mobi discussion turns into an abuse fest.... Im sick of it.

And before all you .mobiers give me the same old "dont come here then" speech, this is an open forum usually with free and vibrant discussion. Provided you show the same courtesy and respect to others as you would expect yourself then there would never be a problem. However not in this sub forum it seems. Continually abusing everyone who doesnt subscribe to the ".mobi is the next big thing" line of thought is singularly the most immature and disrespectful thing ive seen in the 3 yrs since ive been a member here.

I suggest some of you guys take a good look at yourselves.

I think what aggravates the mobiers is that certain people hang out in the mobi forum just to provide negativity. Why bother with this forum if you have no vested interest. Comments and opinions are fine but non-stop bashing is unfortunate. You dont see mobiers in the .tv forum trying to bring them down. I dont get it, some people have nothing better to do I guess.
