SimpliDOit.com Curious, is this name brandable? I've accumulated about 75 Simpli.....com domains ranging from SimpliWine.com to SimpliSexy.com to SimpliDiamonds.com. While I've read/studied very little about branding, is it the mispelling of the word "simply" that makes this a brand? Thanks,

btw, if I were to develop SimpliDOit, it would be done as a "call to action" brand/domain. Also, I understand the "i" after the "o" in "DOit" is simpli a no no for most all domainers. Thanks again,

Simplii Financial just launched recently

The sub of an i for a y is going mainstream.
Shocked me that they used the double i i

Sure but must think about Why they did it. And whether they paid anything over reg fee for the double ii on top of misspelled domain. Must research these first before jumping on the bandwagon of assuming any value in such names.

Just picked up SimpliiVegas, SimpliiSex and SimpliiSports and a half dozen more ii TLD just in case. Regardless, I think they'll go well with my single i domains. Thanks for the idea, and Happy New Year!!!

This kind of hack only works well with single words, and better still where the hack is in an easily observable position like the end of the word.

The double " i i " works in the middle of my priide.com domain because I am going to be making the logo to look like two people. It will be an animated gif where the two i i 's will turn into two males, then two females, then a male and female and then back into a double i i. If you look at the logo (go to www.priide.com) you will get more of a feel for it.

i may consider simpli . com or simplii . com

but to invest in a lot of names starting with simpli or simplii is not a strategy i would consider. simply is just not that strong of a key word and is not used as often as other words are.

These are the top reported sales with the correct spelling of 'simply' so it may be difficult to get top dollar for a misspelling:

simplyspotless.com 14,000 USD 2013-12-15 Afternic
simplygolf.com 9,500 USD 2013-09-23 Afternic
simplyjobs.com 6,750 USD 2010-05-12 Sedo
simplythebest.de 6,250 USD 2014-11-19 Sedo
simplymine.com 5,000 USD 2013-12-15 Afternic
simplyhired.com.au 5,000 USD 2011-05-18 Sedo
simplyfitness.com 4,900 USD 2016-06-14 Sedo
simplystraight.com 4,700 USD 2015-11-08 Uniregistry
simplygifted.com 4,477 USD 2012-11-04 Afternic
simplytrade.com 3,888 USD 2009-12-09 Afternic

The single letter conversions and single letter additions are selling so well  that we’re already on to the robust market of both changing a single letter AND adding another one. :banghead:
Adding another one, you say... how about adding two more...?

simpliii.com
taken since early 2016...

simplyyy taken in most extensions...

Simply ridiculous, if you ask me, but what the heck, it's OPM... best of luck to all selling them for big $$$ or developing them into great sites, making big $$$ (y)

As I wrote before:

Yes, too many new domainers jump on a variation, such as the singular or the plural or adding or removing a letter, or adding or removing a word, or changing the order of the words, or a different extension, of some name that sold for a lot in the past, thinking that the variation that has been sitting unregistered all these years must be worth something too. Brandables aside (which are hit or miss anyway), It ain’t necessarily so!

Thanks URL...I just picked up the name simpliiFitness.com to add to my portfolio. The word "simply" is defined as; straightforwardness, clearly, easily understood, literally. Here is Websters def; https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/simply The word simply, while maybe not as "strong" a word as some others, is very soothing, warm and non offensive. Personally I think it puts people at ease, like, "our product will simply lighten your load".

While I'm still relatively new to this industry, what I really don't understand is the reluctance of domainers to risk 8.49 for the kind of return that's possible. You said investing in a lot of simpli and simplii names is not a strategy, but it's a strategy for me. btw, I haven't posted all my names yet, but about 10% of my "simpli" portfolio consists of "simply" .com domains as well. Over 50% of the names I own should appeal to merchant/retail buyers. Domains like SimpliDiamonds, SimpliGold or SimpliAntiques (not suppose to have an "iA" combination according to professionals in this industry, but for 8.49?.....hey, there are exceptions to every rule:xf.grin:).

Thanks again for taking/making the time to post your information and your thoughts, and Happy New Year to you and your family. Cheers!

Thanks for the encouragement...I'm just a DomainDrunk:wacky: who hasn't a clue what he's doing. Your unbiased support is SimpliExhilarating:xf.grin:........ooops, I just drifted away for a minute to see if SimplyExhilarating.com was available, and VOILA! You couldn't possibly think that Viagra or Cialis might be interested in a name that would add to all our pleasure? Thanks again, and Happy New Year!

That is exactly what I thought a number of years back until you realize you have hundreds if not thousands of domains. All of a sudden renewal time is here and then.... what the heck.... renewal time again. How can that be I just renewed... my god time flies.

Then you purge, you trim, you analyse, you learn to speculate.

Then of course there is that damn guy that gets lucky, not once but twice, or even more. So more domains get bought and the number creeps up again, the cycle continues.... crap 10 years has gone by.... what have I spent?

Not talking about anyone in particular but definitely a scenario experienced by a lot of domainers.

If you're really lucky you find your groove and you make money but there are hundreds of domainers who don't make it for a few who do.

Yup, it's an interesting way to only spend $8.49

Thanks for that...I was feeling iinvincible! This whole i and ii thing has me mesmerized. And I really like your graphic ideas of the animated i's. Headed to the gym, but I'll chat with you later....oh, how did you like the actual SimplyExhilarating domain I got with the "y" this morning? Simply exhilarating reminds me of a Viagra or Cialis commercial. See ya!

if cibc is using 'simplii' as their new name for online banking, you may be encroaching TM territory with the other names you are registering.

Actually I've already checked into that. I've personally trademarked a few names in my time, and their TM is specifically for "financial services", so with the exception of a few of my domains there doesn't appear to be a conflict. Thanks for your input.

I remember your article about the SimpliSecurity.com company commercial, and I thing without the commercial, you would hardly know that company, unless you see their cars around. IMO one word-misspell could work much better as brand able than two/three word. Would you pay for misspelled keyword domain, when you can hand registered as much as misspelled domains as you want for $12?
Good luck tho.
