I like it a lot. Would probably price it well above $5k because, as you said, hair product market is just so huge. Nice, simple name.

@mayazir I just think it's a name worth to own and renew and a big company will pay the price if they want the domain. Sure, you probably have to renew it a few times but if it sells you might get a good price. I like it because it's simple and straightforward and beauty product companies spend a lot of money into marketing.

no, I mean, HOW it is possible to use this domain name (I dont mean exactly your domain), it is generic question.
How they will monetie it?
I need to have ideas
I ask because I have a list of possible domain names like this one I maybe buy someday, so I need to understand the process.

@mayazir I see it more as an extension to a marketing campaign.

but HOW?
ok, I have a few domains name in my mind, but I want to know if i shoould reg them.
so, for example, you are a big company that buy this domain..
how will you use it?
develop there a website, online store?
simple redirect to your brand name domain?
because use SimpleHairCare.com as your brand name you cant, because you already have you well known brand name.

Thanks. Should I wait for a buyer to approach me or try and market it myself to end users?

@Sohaib Hasan It definitely doesn't hurt to shoot out a couple of emails to targeted people at major hair care product companies. Beauty brands want to associate their products with ease, simplicity etc. and someone might see the value. At least it gets stuck in their head.

This is a nice domain that holds the prospect of a reasonable sale to a haircare company.

Nice domain! Could be used as a blogging site but i would set your goals higher and try maybe shampoo, treatment companies as a marketing site. I would guess low x,xxx.

I looked on TESS and there was a TM filed in 2000 for "Simple Hair Care", but it is now dead along with similar ones.

There is a UK company operating out of simple.co.uk that he might have trouble with if they have international TMs... I definitely wouldn't market it to them as it might be a sign a bad faith if they have a TM. Also, might limit the companies who would buy this to avoid TM/legal issues.

Definitely talk to a lawyer who knows more about this than we do! :)

EDIT: couldn't find anything on trademarkia either looking at european TMs... still could have a trade name issue, however..

Sorry, I hadn't done any searching. Certainly looks as though there are Trademark issues to be considered.
That said, it is an unusual case, as it is arguable whether any one company can claim exclusive rights to say something is "simple". The same can be said of "easy" and I believe there have been numerous challenges there.

Same could be said about a word like "Amazon" or "Overstock" and many more. You can use it as long as it isn't in the same market as they are in - which is why this domain would be problematic. Like I said, I don't see any filed trademarks, but you don't need a filed one for a UDRP either. :)

Okay. So any bright ideas to make a possible sale with this domain ? Or should I consult with an experienced domain broker.

If this was my domain, I would do the following:

1) Make sure you don't park it with ads or whatnot (makes you an easy mark for UDRP)
2) Research TMs on the keywords/terms etc
3) Bring that info to a lawyer and get their opinion
4) If they give you a green flag to market it (even if to everyone except simple.co.uk), I would send out some emails and try to garner interest.
5) If that isn't fruitful and you would rather avoid sitting on it, talk to an experienced broker and get their opinion on it. Make sure they are experienced - some brokers will tell you it is a great domain and get exclusivity over it while doing nothing during that time (thus wasting your time and taking it off the market).
6) Otherwise list it on markets like Sedo, Afternic, GD, etc and wait.
7) When renewal comes, analyze the level of interest you got etc. As long as your lawyer didn't give you a major red flag, this is definitely a domain I would renew. The terms are great (assuming no TM).

Hope this helps!

Actually I am totally new to this game so I need to learn about the UDRP issues and much more. I hope it is all good and I can flip this domain for good margin.

Thanks a ton Svede. One of the most professional and detailed advice I have received so far. Appreciate it!
