Can someone please direct me to more detailed rules regarding signatures than those found in the FAQ.

I'll pm a moderator with this also but it might save their time as I can't find any relevant rules to my previous signature, via the search function

Update

As I am directing people here for advice, which is most welcome, i'll post 2 specific questions.

1) I have noticed many people posting links to the various names or websites they have for sale, is this bad practice?

2) How about a website I run? Is it better practice to direct people to an auction/trading site which I own and sell the domains out of.

Thanks for any help in creating a more acceptable signature.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
GoDaddyGoDaddy
On the edit signature page:
Signatures should be no more than four lines in length and may not contain images or font sizes larger than SIZE 2.

If you follow that and don't use referral links, you should be fine. [I think.]

No it can't be that, my links were two lines in the standard font size, which i've just confirmed to be two. They were links to my afternic domains for sale (as others use) but if this is frowned up I will happily direct people to my own site.

The signature was In the format of:
SharesTrade.com SecuritiesAccount.com

There must be another consideration we are missing, thanks a lot though for your advice.

Ah I see, they won't submit through the system though if they are over this correct? At least when I tried to list too long a sig it rejected it, so I trimmed it down and when it went through I assumed I had a signature of the correct length.

Thanks for the post.

You can exceed the limit without any problem, there isn't apperantly anything that stops it, unless a MOD detects it in one of your posts.

As far as it comes to "rules", there arent any (as I can recall), but I do think that adult content and so on should be kept out of it, as there is minors on this forum also. And offcourse referral links.

Thats my 2 cents on this matter.

-----------------
A "Legal" Signature could look like this (or simply mine):

My first Link
My second Link
My 3rd Link
And like everyone else, I :xf.love: namepros

Hi Mark,

I didn't see your signature before it was removed, so I can't say specifically what the problem may have been.

Forum Signature Rules

You have up to four lines you can use as you wish for your signature. Keep the size to [font size=2] or less. There is no restriction on the number of links you can include in your signature.

Content restrictions for signatures
- Adult links/domains are not appropriate, keep it PG
- No referral/affiliate links, or links to other domain forums
- You can list domains you have for sale, but don't hyperlink to parked domains or PPC landing pages, or encourage click fraud in any way.

While we're on the subject of signatures, (my fav)
I have to ask, because it's annoying as all get out,
what about sigs that are attached together with hyphens
and distort the thread? like having to scroll 10 inches to the right to
read the post..

Well here goes nothing, I have recreated a signature, if it needs deleting please inform me what the problem is. I have also posted that request in the official NP management forum, I don't want possibly banning over a sig problem I can't see is my worry really :).

This is exactly the kind of set up I had before, though the names may be slightly different as I alter my sigs now and again, its essentially a rough reflection of what I had, links to the same place, same kind of names etc. MS Word shows it at: 137 characters.

Thanks a lot for everyones help, even though I didn't find the exact problem it was good of you to try to help.

If it's four lines or less I don't see it as being obtrusive.

Okay sorry to bring this up again but apparently my signature is now 6 lines on some people's screens?

I have doubled checked in Firefox (my default) and IE, at my current monitor resolution 1280x1024 its 4 lines.

Can someone confirm if its 6 for them at this resolution either using IE or firefox and if so how many characters is it 6 by?

Thank you for your time, i'll get this right one day :) Once I have a template I can just reuse it.

Thanks for the update, i'll alter it again. It does appear to increase depending on how low the resolution is, which I think might of been the problem before.

What resolution should I try to develop it for do you think?

Guilty.. LOL

But, honestly, I didn't know I was doing it until a Moderator pointed it out.

I didn't mean to. And on my computer it never distorts the thread so I never noticed that I made it hard for others to see.

I wonder why my computer automatically broke it into lines where as you saw it as one big line? Hmm. I dunno Anyway I'll try to guess it out better and put in the break myself:)
