I never added a signature to my posts but now I want to add a link in my signature. I have about 200 posts so far and I added a signature to test it out but it didnt add the signature to all 200 posts, only posts that I made after I added the signature. I always thought that if you add a signature at any time in the game, it will add the signature to all your past posts as well. This is not possible? or am I missing something? Can someone help explain it and if they know a way to add my signature to all my other 200 posts, but to where I can change the signature link whenever I want. I dont have a signature right now because I took it off since people will be reading this (I want to evaluate how well a link in a signature works on this forum to gain traffic and I dont want people clicking on my signature link for this specific post since it's drawing more attention to the link than usual)

I'm pretty sure that the you can't have the signature link added to all of your previous posts. Not much to say lol, maybe an admin could change that through admin panel, but i doubt it =/

Hope I helped

Signatures can be good for a bit of traffic, but it is more about building your brand. Link backs through signatures in forums will help you only to a point as well. Most search engines might show you as having 20,000 references on the net, but if most come from one site then only a couple will actually be used by the search engine.

Look at your signature more as a brand building tool and to help familiarize people with your websites name. Also make sure you follow the rules of the forums you are posting on and to contribute to the forum if you are serious about building your brand because constructive information that helps others is a much better way to gain trust then by just making random posts for people to see your signature links.

Hope this helps you a bit.

Humm... don't know but for me its changing in all posts I have ever made.

Even my first post on this forum has my current signature.

If you have the time, you can edit each post and check the "Show signature" box. However its probably not really worth it for 200 posts. You would be better off just being active and getting lots of quality posts built up.

If you make 100 posts and you've had nothing in your signature, it will only add it to posts from the moment you add something onwards. If you have a signature that just says something like "Hello" from the very start, when you change it every post from the beginning one will have it changed

Presumably it's because when you have no signature, the database doesn't have an entry for your signature, so when you add it, the posts you've made previously don't "Know" that you have a signature now. So you can only edit posts you've made since your signature was enabled.

I have to agree on that as well. Whenever I change my sig on a forum it has always updated the old ones for me too, but have not really paid attention to anything old for a long time since most search engines will mainly look at your newest posts as relevant and current signature information anyways.
