I'm probably a couple of years too late :) but I recently put 2 and 2 together... VR + AI = vrai which means "real" or "true" in French. If I was sure what existentialism was, I would say there was a deep joke there...

So anyway share your totally French domains, hybrids / portmanteaus and other creative .fr ish domains.

croient.com
Unfortunately you can't use that a stand-alone keyword, it just won't work.
In a sentence you would use it like this: ils croient (masc.) or elles croient (fem.) = they believe.

PS: the market for French domain is pretty weak in general.

Thank you for taking the time to explain. Next time I will consult you on prospective french names! :)

MaVie.org (MyLife)
Came across it in a deleted list. It was regged for 15 years. Not sure if it has any potential but it's short and a very broad term.

Not bad :) But .org is not a very popular extension for French names, the main extensions are .com/.fr and then .ca .be .ch + a number of ccTLDs, many of which are in Africa. But for non-profit organizations, NGOs etc it's always a good choice. Also some niches like education or health do very well in .org.
This name could be used for a personal blog. I checked it in archive.org and it used to be a German website...

Thanks for the additional info, especially reminding me that there are quite some French speaking people living in Africa, to put it euphemistically..

Fun fact: not too long ago I wanted to name a VR project VRAI just because I came to the same "deep conclusion" as you. I managed to think of it at the same time VR.AI was on auction at Sedo... It went up to about $4k and I had a bid up in that range but lost it eventually. Still bitter I didn't keep going. Oh, what could have been...

More on topic, I recently got caught in an even uglier bidding war for Auteur.com at Dropcatch, which I also ended up losing. Found the .org at Sedo and ended up getting that for about 5% of what I'd bid for the .com. But, merde, I had been watching that name for months and I'm still mourning.

I think the only other French-ish name I own is vague(.)org, but I'm not too in love with it because it's not the French meaning you first think of when you see it.

I have some absolute monster keywords in dot CO

Travail (work)
Hypotheque (mortgage)
AVendre (for sale)
Neuf (new)
Courtier (broker)
Vendu (sold)
Anglais (english)
Danse (dance)
Camions (trucks)
Verte (green)
Sante (health)

Even better is that I've seen .co used a couple of times in the wild by end users here in Montreal (Quebec) ...

And here are my dot COM French domains.

I'm an English speaking Montrealer .. so although my French is far from perfect .. you can't be a lifetime Montrealer and not know a decent amount of French .. lol .. speaking isn't a problem at all .. but it's the grammar and spelling I sometimes worry about.

(Obviously not as strong as my one word dot CO above on the left of dot .. but still quite strong for dot com I think .. would love to get @Kate's feedback on these and above dot co's)

NomsDomaines (domain names .. although I'm not sure it's the real term .. so rarely heard in French)
InformezVous (inform yourself)
MaitresDuWeb (Masters of the Web .. I wish it meant WebMaster .. Quebecers usually just say "Webmaster" .. lol)

InspectionDeMaison (home inspection)
ReussirEnligne (succeed online)
MesRabais (my rebates)

MaLivraison (my delivery)
NouvelleMusique (new music)
CollectionDuChef (chef's collection)

PersonnelInterimaire }
PersonnelTemporaire } (These 3 basically mean temporary workers)
PersonnelInterim }

CremeDeCafe (cream of coffee .. or more like coffee liqueur)
LesCasinos (the casinos)
MarqueMaison (house brand)

AgenceMontreal (Montreal Agency)
Macrobiotique (macrobiotic)
Pleinairs (outdoors)

Espace // dot // info (space)
Jeunes // dot // org (youth)

As Kate said above, french market is pretty weak. It may wake up one day, at least for one word .fr domains. That's my bet. So i got some domains like:
vitalite.fr
creations.fr
checkup.fr
nascar.fr

I also have a few crypto french spelling domains both in .com and .fr:
cryptocontrat.com/fr
cryptotaxe.com/fr
cryptocarte.com/fr
