Should I renew domain ihosting.net ?

Hi Guys, I have a domain, ihosting.net that i forgot to renew but is in redemption period, I emailed my domain service providor and they want $175 for me to get it back.

Here's the thing, I don't plan on using the domain any time soon, so how much do you think the domain is worth? I've never had an offer for it.

I would drop it, the com isn't online but is reg'd until 2012 with the company that owns it displayed as ihosting inc.

UPSTO.gov reports the TM as abandoned so chances are you are gonna have to wait till 2012 for the name to drop before you can get your hands on it.

In these circumstances I don't see the .net as attractive unless you are willing to wait 2 years for the .com and a possible legal fight with another domainer if they grab it before you on the drop. (Barring trying the email address on whois etc).

I think as a supplement to the .com the .net is worth it, if you have no interest in the above for the .com just drop it.

That's just based on my own opinion, at the end of the day any domain is worth what anyone is willing pay, there could be someone on the planet that loves the name so much they'd pay loads to pad up your bank, but what's the chances? There is always an element of risk to any speculation, the trick is to make a profit doing it and to do your best to minimise your losses.
