Should I register additional TLD's before selling .com authority domain?

I own an attractive .com domain which I intend to sell in the online gaming market. It is well aged and perfect for branding of a website. However, all of the other TLD's besides the .com are still available. Should I buy some of them as well before selling the site? Any opinion will be appreciated.

Edit: I should mention that the other TLD's are unregistered and still available.

By the way, hello forum. I am new here. :)

No, please don't. It'll do well enough by itself.

And welcome to NP :)

If no one else thought they were/are worth regging up to this point, why would you want to waste your/more money doing so?

It depends what amount you intend to sell it for. If you want or expect big bucks getting the net and org protects your domain and is a selling point.

I have had a domain I was asking a very low amount for get the net bought and developed. Of course my price went up. They had their chance.

If the domain is in a very hot niche and you expect to ask a higher price I would at least get the net. It’s also a nice selling point during a negotiation.

Thank you all for your feedback.

I think it might be due to the fact that the name can only be used as a brand (such as casinomeister) and is not purely based on keywords (such as onlineslots). How would you value the domain casinomeister dot com if it did not have any website, backlinks or content?

The domain will not be cheap as the branding is very good. Registering the net and org is what I have been thinking about as well. All the others would probably be too much.

The name is of excellent quality which is why I have no doubt that it will sell sooner or later. It has a number of benefits.

As a pure domain investor I have yet to find a buyer who is looking to buy a premium .com give a damn about any other extension for a packaged deal. The whole "sweetening the deal" is a moot point in domaining. So no... do not register anything else. If the name is as premium as you say and a company thinks they can build a brand on another extension- .net or .xyz... let them go for it. Likely not the end user you're looking for... at least until they get there facts right.

No. Do not register additional TLDs. Focus on selling the .com.

Thanks a lot for your opinions @BostonDomainer & @tldboss. So far the census appears to be that I should skip out on the .net and .org extensions.

If anyone else has had experience with a similar situation, please let me know.

Happy holidays.

I would not purchase any others to be part of a package deal (as others have said). I don't think package deals make sense unless one of the others would be great as a marketing phrase. However, if the name is potentially useful by multiple companies in parallel, i.e. is generic, then it might be worthwhile considering hand registering extensions which make a lot of sense. Good luck with the .com sale!

@MetBob TY for your opinion. I would not purchase additional TLD's to raise value of the .com but to make sure the buyer has full rights for the brand/ domain.

Just want to re-ask the following question as it has not been addressed yet. :)

How would you value the domain casinomeister dot com if it did not have any website, backlinks or content?
