Personally I thought affiliate links are not allowed but management recently changed its policy it seems due to shortage of godaddy coupons.

I checked the Godaddy discount thread just now and it seems almost none of the affiliate links are working. One guy (gareth1614) did say it worked for him but then again he also mentioned that he never used a Godaddy coupon before so any discount code would have worked for him really.

These are common answers on affiliate links in the last 4 pages of the thread (quoted from the thread):
--> "it brought it to $1.49 but went to the cart to find it's $11.29 again"
--> "The same as with others - not working if you already used one $1 coupon"
--> "Didn't work for me.."
--> "Must not like my account - didn't work for this one either."
--> "Had high hopes when I saw it but after I signed in, it immediately changed to 8.13 Euros."
--> "Sure all of these codes show the awesome low price but only until you sign in or try to pay for it."
--> "Non of the codes from this page works"
--> "Ditto."
--> "Not working, though it says Promotion code applied, but it does not make any change in the price"

So where's the "benefit" in these affiliate links (other than for the posters)? The only thing I see is around 10-15 affiliate links per page, none of which are working.

The only code out of 4 pages of affiliate links that worked for me is CJCR699B but the irony is that it isn't an affiliate link, it's a coupon code and the poster did not get any money from posting it ;)

It's simple really, if you have used a lot of coupon codes in the past that stopped working then affiliate links will not work for you either. If you haven't used a lot of coupons in the past then certain affiliate links may still work for you (but then again a lot of coupon codes in that case will still work for you as well so there's really no need for an affiliate link in that case since a coupon code will work just fine). The fact is though that most people on the Godaddy discount thread HAVE used plenty of coupons in the past, in other words none of the affiliate links will work for them.

I rather have one weekly or monthly post in the Godaddy coupon thread with one working discount code (non-affiliate) compared to 20 daily posts with affiliate links that do not work and that may end up causing me to miss that one working coupon code in the middle of the affiliate spam.

Actually Bram, I originally posted the affiliate link.which had that code so the guy who used the link posted it right after he used so that CAME from affiliate linl : )

He should have mentioned and I wanted to mention it here but I waited cause somehow I know that code will be mentioned here. I have it was from my affiliate link and that many members used it for $2...something total.

The real problem is once links are allowed it appears most of the members here have exhaused the codes already but still doesnt mean new members like that guy You mentioned will not benefit from it.

Another thing, if , as you said all members or majoroty of th say it is not good and did not work so how.can it.benefit.the poster? I know you have to buy for the poster to get anything but when it doesnt work as it intended, then they dont buy.

Many members used the codes I posted with great success but it appears most are not admitting it.. I even daid in my last post to acknowledge if it worked and what totol each code gave by liking the post or reposting the link and saying this worked for such amount of totol.

Like I said most of the members used their codes already but they still manage to use the same codes it get different levels of discounts.

I am personally happy if it is banned or not allowed but such decision should notnbe based on thenfact that many users already exhausted and used everything while there are still those who havent and are getting the use of them.

Furthermore, many users have had thsir gd accounts flagged due to the excessive use of coupons so nomatter what they do they will not have any codes work for them. One of the links I posted yesterday for a user for $0.99 Lol. In fact, another user got 3.76 total another one got 2.25 total...and another couple got the same thing. But the problem is most are just using and not acknowledging when it works.but when it doesnt then they say it did not and ironically, those poating it did not give me any discount are those who already exhausted or have thdir accounts flagged. :)

I can't really find you as the first user who posted this code. The first mention of the code CJCR699B I found is by user Vladimir Valchev and was posted on the 9th of September on the following thread page:
https://www.namepros.com/threads/godaddy-discount-codes.577802/page-857

That user posted the code CJCR699B, there was no affiliate link involved. I don't think it was even allowed on the 9th of September to post any affiliate links. In fact I double-checked and affiliate links were allowed starting from September 20, 11 days after this code was posted. So this discount did not come from your affiliate link.

The point I'm trying to make is that the code ( CJCR699B ) worked by simply entering a domain name on Godaddy, clicking the checkout button and entering 'CJCR699B' in the promo code field. There was no benefit from any affiliate link there since there wasn't even an affiliate link.

To address your other points:

The real problem is once links are allowed it appears most of the members here have exhaused the codes already but still doesnt mean new members like that guy You mentioned will not benefit from it.

There will indeed be some new members who possibly can benefit from an affiliate link but those new members will also be able to benefit from a coupon code. Again my point: there never was nor is a need for an affiliate link. The Godaddy coupon thread was established so NP'ers could share Godaddy coupon codes between eachother. Not affiliate links.

Another thing, if , as you said all members or majoroty of th say it is not good and did not work so how.can it.benefit.the poster? I know you have to buy for the poster to get anything but when it doesnt work as it intended, then they dont buy.

It doesn't matter if I buy or not when I click on a affiliate link. If I buy another domain later (at full price) the poster will still benefit (unless I manually deleted all my cookies prior to the purchase).

Many members used the codes I posted with great success but it appears most are not admitting it.. I even daid in my last post to acknowledge if it worked and what totol each code gave by liking the post or reposting the link and saying this worked for such amount of totol.

I highly doubt that many people used these affiliate links with great success. For me for example not a single one worked and based on the comments on the Godaddy coupon thread many people (if not all) had the same issue.
Something else to think about: Anyone can join Ebates.com, FatWallet.com,.. etc.. and create affiliate links. And use them to get the discount. FatWallet.com is currently having a 14% discount (this discount works for everyone regardless how many coupons you used in the past and is not limited to one domain) on almost everything you buy on Godaddy. If I use my own Fatwallet link I get a domain 14% cheaper.
(Note: Fatwallet and ebates.com are cash-back websites which means you can get a discount from using your own affiliate links, for CJ I think it is not allowed to use your own link but don't quote me on this).

Like I said most of the members used their codes already but they still manage to use the same codes it get different levels of discounts.

I am personally happy if it is banned or not allowed but such decision should notnbe based on thenfact that many users already exhausted and used everything while there are still those who havent and are getting the use of them.
Once you use a code of a certain discount (for example $1), then another code (or affiliate link) that offers the same discount won't work anymore. In other words if you used many codes in the past then no codes will work anymore and neither will any affiliate links. So affiliate links don't benefit the people who have used many codes in the past.
Affiliate links also have no benefit to people who didn't use coupon codes before because... they can use a coupon code instead.

I see. The first I posted something was I think 21 st Sep and I saw it had that code and next post said this is working. I did not know about Fatwallet.

I get your point about the cookie on the PC when you later make a purchase. This situation will benefit the link owner but most of us if not all are savvy enough to clear cookies though for me I still see no problem even if I make no discount because I am already spending what I am happy with. I buy through links everyday and click on adsense links that I like. But I still get your point which says if links are wprkijg 100% then it is ok but if I click and it doesnt work them later I make a purchase and the link poster only makes something then no:)

I really do think that a separate thread should be created.

Those who want to try to benefit from a larger array of Godaddy product and service offerings can search the thread for affiliate links that will get them what they're looking for and, in turn, the person posting the link will generate some income. If it works for people, then it works for both sides.

If creating a new Godaddy Affiliate Codes thread is permitted by the forum management, then why not. Everyone wins.

NO, one thing is listing CJ affiliate codes other is spamming with masked links

So far me and another guy listed CJ ones and you know CJ ones are known so we can differentiate them. Furthermore, we can always report the ones we find are not CJ ones.

It was not. It was directed at the question;
Should affiliate links be allowed in GoDaddy Coupons thread?

What are masked links? Anyone can expand "short links", if that is what you mean. Or any link really.

Just go here:
http://longurl.org/

and enter the shortened link. It will expand it. There are lots of other sites that will do this too.

CJ isnt the only affiliate provider of links to publish though..

Update 1:
After close review of this thread and poll results, the Godaddy thread no longer allows affiliate links. Please only post the actual affiliate codes from now on.

You can visit your affiliate link to extract the code from the URL and then post the affiliate code instead.

Update 2:
We also created a new Domain Coupons and Offers section for all special offers and coupons related to domains.
