Setting up Name Servers from Registrar to Hosted site

Hello, I tried finding a thread on this topic but I didn't find anything that helped so I apologize if I missed something. I am hoping there are some DNS gurus who can help me here.

I have a domain registered at DomainSite, let's call it MyScript.TLD. It's content is hosted at a .Net hosting provider, lets call it HOST.COM

I am using this domain as custom parking script for my other domains and I am trying to setup name servers for the domain so that I can point my other domains to the parking script I created.

DomainSite allows me to register name servers but I don't know how to point them to my hosted site. Currently my MyScript.TLD has it's names servers set to NS1.HOST.COM and NS2.HOST.COM and the root site for MySCript.TLD works fine.

I registerd name server NS1.MyScript.TLD and NS2.Myscript.TLD. I tried using the Webserver IP and the IPs for the NS1.HOST.COM and NS2.HOST.COM but nothing seems to work. When I point my other domains to NS1.MyScript.TLD they are not found. What IP addresses at my host (HOST.COM) should I be using when I register the name servers?

I am wondering if my issue is because Myscript.TLD uses the host's name servers and not the registrar's name server. Or.... is this even possible without a reseller account at my host????

FYI - I understand propagation and have allowed ample time before submitting this issue.

Thanks in advance to taking the time to read this.

You need to contact your host and ask them what IPs to use for the nameservers. If you create your own nameservers, you will need dedicated IPs.

Only your host can provide you with this information, although they should have already told you what it is.

Thanks everyone. I contacted the host and it turns out this is not an option since I'm on a shared hosting plan.

odd. You should be able to purchase them for a few bucks extra.

What would I need to purchase? Private DNS services? Dedicated IP? I know I can add a dedicated IP for about $10 a year.

Thanks for the reply

It depends on what your host has it set up as, or calls it. If you tell them what you are looking to do, they will steer you in the right direction. Ideally, 2 dedicated IP's and private DNS.. you will need to set the nameservers ip's at your registrar as well.. I am assuming you know this already, so I won't ramble :)

Imo that should be with the package. Moreover guys are right - better solve that with your web hosting provider if you have no idea how to do that...

Thanks everyone for your replies. I did contact my hosting provider and basically they told me I couldn't do it because private DNS is not available with the shared hosting plans they offer. I'm not sure if that is a valid reason or not but I told them what I was trying to do and they said it couldnt't be done.

Who is your webhost, out of curiosity? All you need to create private nameservers is a dedicated IP address. The fact that you are on a shared hosting plan is irrelevant.

AppliedI.Net I have had good luck with them, uptime and support wise. So if I had a dedicated IP, which I can get, do I just register my name servers to point to that IP??

You would need 2 dedicated ip. Its a extra charge with most hosts however they should of atleast offered it to you.

ON your DNS control panel there is an option to add an ip associated with the name servers.

Correct. Please note though that you will need two dedicated IPs (one for each nameserver). Also, you should expect to incur an additional fee for these IPs (usually $1/IP).

If you know the IP where your web site hosted and if that is shared IP you can easiely get information about the nameservers
