Hi guys,

How difficult would it be to setup your own parking service with a one page template?
Would love to hear your experiences with this.
Any pointers would be great.

regards,

Rene

Do you mean a parking page with Adsense or Affiliate links? I think that would be difficult to keep the ads relevant over many domains. It doesn't seem practical. Or do you mean just a For Sale Page? That is easier to do with some Domains For Sale packages, like DNS Portfolio. There you just redirect the hits to the Domain For Sale Listing Page. You have to redirect on a domain by domain basis though. So it can get tough if you have many domains.

If there's an adsense banner around there ... might be relevant. However some text would help ( relevant to the domain ).
To make an automated system to show relevant affiliate links ... that would cost some money but not impossible. However I don't think you can make "real" money only by parking domains.

Setting up a parking service is easy , you can get it developed by freelancers or can buy ready made scripts e.g:domainzaar,smartscriptsolutions.com
Difficult part is getting a good ad feed ,if you have a decent traffic volume , try getting feed from 3rd party.
i personally use a simple search template for ppc ,one page landing page for cpa

I just signed up and see I'm member number 183,000 - guess I'm a bit late to the party.

I'd like some info on this too. I can put together a decen template in html or php, what I'm wondering is why we use parking servcies when we could create our own templates, plug in our own ad feed and keep 100% of the revenue. The alternative being that we sign up with a parking company, share our revenues with them and remain in the dark about what they're doing, how much they're getting and what proportions they're paying out.

Case in point, I signed up to sedo a few weeks ago (I'm a newbie at all this). I found a domain name that was initially getting 5 to 6 views a day with a 20% CTR on sedo. Pretty decent I thought - dreams of getting myself a couple of hundred such domains and making enough income to relax passed before my mind.

I loaded up another domain. This time it was getting only 1 view every 4 or 5 days, not great but the click price in this case was 0.23 (23 cents). So from a newbie point of view not a bad result considering I'm just feeling my way here.

However, when that second domain got its first and only click, suddenly the first domain lost all its traffic and dropped to only 1 view every 1 or 2 days with no further clicks.

Now I'm wondering what's happening here. I doubt I'm suddenly getting smartpriced since I was only getting 0.04 (4 cents) for the clicks on the first domain in the first place - they could hardly try to cut me down even more, could they?

So, I'm left wondering what's going on here and really I have no way of knowing short of contacting them, which I'll probably do. But th situation is unsatisfactory, one has no control and yet we're the ones who have found the domain through our own keyword research.

So, why not park our own domains and use our own ad feed? Why is it a company like whypark can use a kind of autoblogging software yet we as indivduals are more or less banned from using such on our parked pages? Why does google supply an ad feed to companies who provide parking services but won't let indivduals take that amount of control over their own domains?

Or am I wrong here? And are there any other ad feeds that one can use that look like adsense and are equally as effective, like adbrite or something?

Any enlightenment would be appreciated thanks.

I think what you meant by setting up your own personal parking service, is setting up your own "minisite".

Most minisites are just an elaborate "parking service". Because advertisers don't want to put ads on a page that doesn't contain anything valuable for the consumer other than links to ads, minisites are forced to splash some content into their domains.

If i'm not mistaken, most commercial parking companies (like Sedo) have some kind of binding agreement with the ad network companies so that they are allowed to put ad links on just a landing page without content.

Set up a parking service for other people to use or for yourself?

If for yourself, there are scripts out there that can help you
http://www.domainzaar.com/

However, for most ad companies, you can't put ad without any content. Otherwise, you risk getting banned from them.

without a proper feed from google, you will be better of parking with one of the known parking companies. The likelyhood that you will get a feed from google is almost zero, unless you have a top portfolio and plentry of traffic on it.
