Selling on SEDO...is it costly?

I plan to sell a few domains I have that I think could be worth something. I read a lot of sales go through SEDO. My question is, how much does it cost to sell a domain there. Of course I could check myself but the question is also about which offer to choose for a beginner when you want a quick buck from them, without investing too much money.

Comments are appreciated, thanks!

Unless your domains fetch you mid $xxx +, its generally slightly expensive to sell via sedo if you have a make offer listing there. But again it is a marketplace most likely to get max exposure and the right eyes for your domains too.
Check out the prices here:

Do not ever sell at sedo, they have huge commissions, for example if you sell a domain for 60$ then you will only take 10$ because 50$ is their commission.

Not sure if serious

It is true, it happened to me, but I never gave the domains away and they closed my account.

Yes, it's true.
But you have to read carefully before you tick that box and press the 'Sell domain' button. The final price, Sedo's cut, and your net money you are clearly shown.
Obviously Sedo is not fit for low value transactions.

Doesn't the flat 10% commission apply for domains parked at Sedo any longer?

Not unless you have set a fixed price

So, if you park a domain with Sedo and list it for sale at a fixed price under $500, you'll pay a flat 10% commission?

i myself have drastically cut back on domains i list at sedo/send to auction there since the change in overall layout AND the shift to the minimum $50 commission on domains not listed with a fixed price since, in a nutshell, any domain that you anticipate will sell for less than $500 will be dinged MORE than the old %10 commission..... and imho the current auctions aren't as dominantly showcased as before.

but, back to your question, you don't have to "invest" any money to list them there, unless you opt for their paid featured services etc, but need to be prepared to give up at least $50 off the top on domains sold there via auction unless listed with a fixed price.

Well, I look at it like this ... even though they charge a minimum of $50, everything over and above your yearly renewal fees will give you a profit.

So if you paid $10 for the domain and they take $50, it means you already make a profit (albeit a small one) with a sale of $70 (Paypal eats too ... lol ...)

It depends on how greedy you are.

Sedo is only going to work for prices say over $90.-

But watch out ... I was stupid with a domain and did not watch it and it was sold and as it expired, I had to renew the darn thing too.

And it was a .tv domain - so that cost like $35 extra , plus the $50 for Sedo ... lol ... I think I made $2.85 profit after the Paypal charge.
:(

... but you learn ... lol ...

If i were you i would try to list my domains on every domain marketplace i can, as for the sedo comission is 10% of the sales price with %50 minimum comission for them.

However i do not recommend the featured listing unless you own a single word dot com registered before 1995, it will be like throwing money out of the window.

Not unless you have set a fixed price

It has to be fixed price and parked. Just fixed price is not enough for %10 commission without minimum.

Example:
I sold a domain for โ‚ฌ120 and I paid โ‚ฌ12 commission. This is an actual example of a domain I sold today. I will get โ‚ฌ108. This domain was parked and fixed price.

If it was fixed price but not parked or,
parked but not fixed price or,
neither parked nor fixed price, then I would end up paying โ‚ฌ50 and would get only โ‚ฌ70.

I just had a sale at Sedo and they made $50 off me. But, I'm thinking I'm not going to get that visibility anywhere else, so I'm happy. It won't keep me from using the make an offer listings. You'll get plenty of low offers, a few that are acceptable, and a high one once in a blue moon. Just gotta take the good with the bad and don't look back.

If you have good domains at the price range of $xx I would try selling them at eBay. You will be able to save from the $50 charges from Sedo. Besides, you don't have to spend this much from eBay. Also, they have a very active auction marketplace. In Sedo, you are competing against thousands of other sellers. Just be prepared that in Ebay there are a lot of bargain hunters.

I suppose that Sedo is one of the best places where you will be able to buy and sell your domains.
