Selling on Flippa

I'm thinking of selling few websites on flippa. Does anyone have experience on that?
I checked that auctions usually rich the websites' value, and that there are many websites with paid traffic or overestimated revenue which attract a lot of bidders... However, quality websites without traffic are staying unsold.

The thing is that I have the second type of websites...
Surely, I would like to give them a try, but the listing fee together with the comission keeps me away.

I google'd it, and found some vouchers for free listing, but all of them were expired. Anyone has something better?

Do you believe it's better to look somewhere else (ebay maybe)? Or does it worth, to optimize the websites and sell them when they have more traffic?

Thanks for your time!

Hi Kosvam.
Andrew here from Flippa.

We have the highest sales rate for anywhere so if your site is going to sell, its most likely to happen on our dedicated website marketplace.

Having said this, if you site has no traffic, potential buyers are unfortunately not going to be willing to pay a premium for it - regardless of your definition of a quality site.

Think you have two options here - sell at whatever the highest bid ends up being, or hold onto it and get your traffic rolling in.

Hope that helps.

I've sold a few websites on Flippa and so have had great results but both were Clickbank affiliate websites that were generating nice steady revenue each month. Revenue sites sell very well there.

That being said, I agree with Andrew, it would probably be worthwhile to develop your websites more and get traffic/revenue before listing.

Thanks both for your answer.
I assume there aren't vouchers available for listing the first website(s) for free anymore..

No problem Kosvam.

We don't really have vouchers for listing a website for free. You can follow our blog, twitter or facebook to keep posted on any giveaways that might help you - like our recent St Patrick's Day giveaway: http://flippa.com/blog/giveaway-luck-o-the-irish/

You can still sell websites with low traffic. I managed to sell quite a few of them.

Of course you cannot expect thousands for them.

What sort of price range are we talking about? My guess would be between $200 and $300, am I far off the target? By how much if yes?

I just listed my first website in flippa! [/URL] I followed your suggestions and started with a website which is receiving traffic already.
It takes really time to make the listing and all these... :P
Any suggestion for a sucesful sale?

I received the first offer for my website, however I don't get it why I have to accept or not bids. If flippa can't verify the buyer, how can I?

I am suspicious of these revenue claims by many of these sites. Is there any recourse if they pass revues turn out to be fudge winks?
I guess someone could easily be sued if they put up false returns? People seem to be buying based on these guaranteed revenues.

It depends on a range of issues. The best way to avoid this is to conduct proper due diligence and independently verify the seller's claims around revenue, traffic and site age.

It is quickly evident when a seller is not entirely forthcoming on these verifications. When this happens, its best to put your money elsewhere.
