Hey all,

GoDaddy offers an auction listing option where you pay $20 and your domain gets listed on the auction 's main page. However, the listing is based on a rotation scheme. Did anyone has a success selling domains via this feature? Is it a good idea registering good domains that are backed by an extensive research and selling a few days old domains on GoDaddy under the auction homepage listing?(making $20-30 per transaction)

Thank you,

hi,
thanks for your question as it makes me remember my first listing at Godaddy in 2006.

my domain was gigoloclub.com registered at indiaaccess.com . that time Godaddy was not present in India. So i listed that at Godaddy Usa using Credit card and paying all their service charges at a listing price of 5000usd for my domain for 7 days auction.

what happened-- no buyers as price was not realistic.

Now after that long period as now godaddy is in India i had recently listed two domains at their auction---

liquorbooth.com-- sold for 48usd
bullionton.com-- failed.

so you can see what is my experience with godaddy.

Actualy it is not bad to sell via Godaddy auction. the key is 7 day public auction is good for better names and for good names you need to list them as an offer now price option for 3 monts listing with a reasonable price option. the price should not be like mine as i quoted for Gigoloclub.com a stupid tag of 5000usd.

well just go only for good names via Godaddy as their price snd commision and auction membership makes a domain quite costly.

From my own experience of more than 15 years i have sold more than couple of 100 domains via manual networking to several business houses in mid to high xxxx. That is why i had not tried secondary markets like Sedo etc just as other traders do. Though now a days i am looking to invest in few Forex domains.

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience! I'm still shocked and confused when it comes to very stupid domain names that get over 20 bids on Godaddy auction. Those awkward and crazy domain names go for $100-200. And the main reason is "Auction Home Page listing"

the domains which you think are stupid ones and get bids either are aged ones or have websites or have good Backlinks and are well advertised over net may be having higher Cpc or there are certainly a clear idea for developing it.
