Hello.

I was watching all kinds of domain videos tonight on YouTube and found this one:

Skip to 10:45 to see and comment his letter example.


This is a guy selling GEO+keyword domains and he shows the kind of letter/email he his sending out to potential companies.

I thought is was interesting and very descriptive of how he proceeds.

I wanted to have the opinion of people doing today the same thing he does. I am sure there are many domainers in GEO+keyword on NamePros.

I want you to comment his video, but especially his letter example. I think having comments from people on that video would help a lot of us newbie domainers.

I started domaining back in late October and the first domain I sold was a geo+service for 320$ .It got sold in 2 days of regging.

I sold others for 200-600$.

Thanks for sharing this video. I had some sales of GEO+service in price range of mid XX to mid XXX with outbound marketing.
I'm not a fun of this particular letter from above video for many reasons (writing style, not true about first page rankings, inserting an image in email body, "yours sincerely"....). Here at NP there are many better examples.
My experience is not huge, but I have to say that sometimes surprisingly I have much success with long and descriptive letters.

Mind sharing what you consider a good template?

I'm not a fun of this particular letter from above video for many reasons (writing style, not true about first page rankings, inserting an image in email body, "yours sincerely"....). Here at NP there are many better examples.

The first email should consist of no more than 2 paras and 3 shortsentences.

I understand, but that is very vague theory. How about giving examples of what you've used before.

IMHO the reciepient either knows what a domain is
and can imagine the value himself

or he will not buy anyway
so why waste his time?

I would tell him what I have
and ask if he wants "the traffic" from that domain

I read a lot about this topic here at NP and I collected all email examples I thought were good. It helped me to make my own templates which I adjust further for each sales pitch depending of domain name, business niche, other tlds registrations, Estibot value, end user profile....

Geo names are great, sometimes. I have a few listed in the auction section right now, don't stretch yourselves with too many purchases.

My question is more related to the "sales pitch" email itself than the geo names themselves.

You have to understand the industry. Sometimes owners want a long pitch, sometimes they like one sentence directly to the point. I like doing short awareness email, follow-up phone calls till they buy or tells me to F off.


Small businesses are numb to cold calls, they get bombarded with spam calls every day. Warm it up with an email or two, contact form submissions rarely work. As long as you know who to speak to and reference an email or domain, the gatekeepers are flexible.

When selling local geo domains Ive had GREAT success going "Old School"...

Hand addressed envelopes to business owners with a typed letter with my pitch and a real signature... Time consuming but good for xxxx deals...

Do the EMDs still get ranked high ?

Google now place less premium on EMDs than they used to do. I know for certain that Bing still does. I have a couple of domains ranking #1 on Bing search. This question you asked has been a very topical one among search marketers for a while now. Way I see it, it cant be bad for your SEM efforts to have an EMD.

Imagine a “tires” advertisement. A Google adwords ad having a display URL of tires.com will scream “tires” and every searcher will immediately understand that “tires.com” is a specialised internet sender of tires. Your chance of getting a lot of clicks on that ad is heavily increased by the domain name. Resulting in another big advantage of that domain name: Your Adword Ads Get Cheaper, as a lot of searchers click on that ad the google intern so called CTR% ( Clickthrough Rate PerCent ) rises, Google Robots understand that you are showing relavant ads to their visitors. Google wants the searcher to be happy. Your Ad will show at a better (higher) position and that again increases your CTR% .

Your higher Clickthrough Rate, will get you more buyers, your money rises, the domain is earning you money, more money then other less valuable and eventually cheaper domains would have done for you.

That money will stay for a long time period. You pay only once – when you buy that domain.

I don't know about all this. you have examples like the purchase of JacksonHoleRealEstate.com for high $xx,xxx.

But my DumboProperty.com gets no bites.

Dumbo is an up and coming area in Brooklyn New York waterfront with the best view of NYC skyline I think. 780 million was paid to buy out run down buildings there to be converted into a technology campus for startups.

They are dubbing it as "The Next Silicon Valley of the East" and well all know what happened when they developed the area which is now called Silicon Valley right?

I've tried "old school" and just outgoing marketing and no bites yet. What am I doing wrong? is it because Dumbo isn't really that popular yet?

is it really true that all a domainer needs to do is snag a good geo+keyword domain and all the offers will come rolling in? I don't know. sounds too far fetched to me.

I probably own 1000 geo+keyword domains that actually get decent search volume. I do not get many offers. Also you can only expect the value to be there after it's built up, not before.
