Selling a domain question

Hello, well ive made the mistake of trying out the domain world, with zero experience..

I recently bought a site, and have had an email (about a week later) with someone interested in buying my domain. I bought my domain off of Sedo, so i assume i sell it there too. The "Customer" who has emailed me, has recommended i get certification for my domain by one of few links he/she has sent.

With 1 domain certification costing 79 euro's im unsure what to make of this, seems shady to me, i have been offered step by step walk through. but i dont want to commit paying for something as far as a certificate if i dont get the asking price (which they agreed to)

Just want guidance if possible about how i tackle this. do i need certification, and is this how all website domains pan out in this order? I thought being signed up to Sedo i can sell my domain also at Sedo with no hassle.

Thanks.

Hey man, this is a quite known scam email. Their game is getting money from all those fake (and useless) certified appraisals and then disappear. Stay away from them.

Excellent, thanks for the feedback, Certificates are not needed then? I'll just stick to sedo and ignore my junk email.

Also if anyone can direct me to the domain selling/managing for dummies guide. Id be extremely grateful =)

Thanks again.

Sign up on Sedo and list your domains / websites for sale, but i'm not sure you understood that email you've received is a total scam, they're not interested in your domain or anything, all they want is just your money for the fake certified appraisal.

The very best guidance you can get is reading this forum from page one to the end. This place is domainers bible. We all have shared our ups and downs here....thousands of us. As about your email its a very well known scam. If buyer wants to buy domain he will go do his homework regarding how much he should pay for the domain then will come to you with an offer. Do not spend money on such appraisals. The email sender works for a company that appraises domains. You will spend 79 euros and he will be gone. If you need to know the value of your domain post it in domain appraisal section here...namepros domainers will give you their honest opinion about it for free.

Cool thanks for the feedback, very informative.. no worries i didn't let it get too far with the scammer, i was forever wary of the emails sent, although convincing they never got a penny out of me.

I will stick around and check this place out, the best info is usually hidden in forums.

Thanks again.
