I have a number of .co.uk domains that I am considering selling.

As I understand it, Nominet charge a transfer fee of £30.

Does the buyer or seller normally pay this fee?

Are there any gotchas I should be aware of?

Thanks,

Mike

It is £10 without the VAT :)

It is £22 for bulk transfers without the VAT. You will have to fill in a transfer form for each domain and send it to Nominet also

Thanks guys,

the reduced fee is good news ... but what about who pays? Is it acceptable to write something like "buyer pays transfer fees" in the sales ad?

You still have to pay nominet to transfer actual ownership of the domain name.

And yes, it is acceptable to say Buyer pays NTF (Nominet Transfer Fee). I think it's more sensible to just include it in your price however, this way you can say that you're paying the NTF as an incentive :hehe:

With regards to who pays it I think it depends on the size of the deal.

If it is a £100 sale then a tenner fee is 10% whereas on a £10,000 deal it is less important.

I would not lose a deal for the sake of a tenner :)
