Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some guidance regarding a UDRP dispute.

About a year ago, I registered several domains that include the word “Natrium” + “Plant(s)”. At the time, it was just a generic word, not a brand, and I registered them purely as domain investments.

Recently, a company contacted me expressing interest in buying the domains. I responded professionally, but now they have filed a UDRP against me to try to take the domains.

I’ve never used the domains commercially, they were never active, and I haven’t tried to impersonate or mislead anyone.

Has anyone here dealt with a similar situation? I’d appreciate advice on how to best defend myself, and any experiences with cases like this would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance!
Please help me

According to Google's AI:

"Natrium is the Latin name for the chemical element sodium (Na), but it most commonly refers to an advanced, sodium-cooled nuclear reactor design by TerraPower that uses molten salt energy storage for grid flexibility, combining a fast reactor with a large storage tank to provide on-demand, reliable, carbon-free power alongside renewables like solar and wind. The term can also refer to other things, like a cryptocurrency wallet or a company."

I didn't search for any plant companies named Natrium. What's their basis for the UDRP?

Damn bad luck you and other pople invented the word "Natrium" and randomly put it alongside the word "plant" after some nobody called "Gill Bates" or something made this blog post that I bet nobody read:

"I just left the groundbreaking ceremony for the first-ever Natrium plant, which will bring safe, next-generation nuclear technology to life right here in Wyoming."

Well I am not a lawyer, but Jim Garrison was, and in the immortal words to Joe Pesci in the movie JFK, I find your story simply not believable.

Not only is Natrium a brand (for Bill's nuclear plants that he mentioned on his blog in 2023 and 2024), a trademark was filed in 2023 and registered in 2024.

I mean I think you registered "natrium plant/s" domains after reading about Bill Gates' "Natrium plant" (as he calls it). And I think the UDRP panel will also think that. I mean it's a pretty big coincidence if you didn't, isn't it? What's a "natrium plant" if not the things Bill Gates is building?

Is that mean if let say Mark ( fb owner ) say something about project let say saltPlant. All the saltPlant domains will be a trademark ?

It means when you read about a new nuclear plant with the trademarked name Natrium, that the billionaire owner specifically calls a "Natrium plant", don't waste money on domain names with the words "natrium" and "plant". Or maybe do, sometimes companies probably just pay up, but don't treat people like idiots and act like you just thought of the word combination out of nowhere.

I'm not attacking you, I'm telling you what everyone else reading is thinking, and what the UDRP panel will probably think. You asked me to be more direct, so I'm telling you the unvarnished truth. You just don't want to hear it.

If you didn't do that then how did you come up with the idea of putting the words "Natrium" and "plant" together? What does it mean?

When did you register the domain names, and when did they apply for the trademark?

If your domain registration was after the trademark application, then you're going to have an issue. You will most likely lose the UDRP if you registered the domains after the trademark date. The complainant in the UDRP will most likely claim that you registered the domain names "in bad faith".

I registered the domains in 2024, while the trademark was filed in 2020. “Natrium” is the chemical name for sodium, and “Plant” is descriptive. These domains were registered as part of my professional domain investing activities, with no intent to target any specific company.
