Sedo's August Great Domain Auction...
what are your thoughts?

P.tv is already at over 10k w/4 bidders
How high will this single letter Dot TV go?
I will stick my neck out here and guess 37k.

Party.tv is a killer name IMHO
How high will this go?
Its only at 300 Euros and worth way more then that.
I will guess 4k.

Ferien.tv (German) is already at 7,000 Euros - Holy Crap!

Your thoughts...

IMO
p.tv 15k-20k (if it gets 1 or 2 more bidders interested)

Party.tv max 1200 Euro (realistically around 600 Euro)

I think prices will be down across the board. Money is a little harder to come by these days.

Im after a few, but none are .tv

P.tv I will say $18,000 - $27,000

Party.tv $2500 would not be surprised if it sold much higher but I never think these things are promoted to end users and its only domainers.

p.tv - my guess is it will go beyond 20k for sure and I feel party.tv could end up close to 10k

The inclusion of PARTY.tv does give me some concern that SEDO are helping ruin the reputation of .TV

I was always under the impression that Party.tv was a $3750 a year Legacy Premium - yet in not one part of the auction particulars is this mentioned.

This happens EVERY time SEDO have a sale that includes .TV names.

A blank 'catch-all' stating that 'some' .Tv may be premiums is not really enough to give confidence to new buyers.

If anyone is selling a premium and doesn't declare that it is a premium then they are scum.

I agree wholeheartedly...Sedo is doing what they can to ruin the reputation of dot tv. I was actually thinking of bidding on party but I am glad you pointed that out Jimbo. I always forget to look that fact up on names just assuming that the Seller would DEFINITELY have shared that one little tid-bit of info w/me because thats the way real honest people act.

Sedo HAS to be stoppped, and those scumbag sellers who do NOT disclose their yearly insane renewal fees.

We need to send a statement to Sedo. I dont mean a couple of emails cuz thats been done already and they don't listen.

Matter of fact, we should all bid Party.tv up VERY high...(some outrageous price that would make a few blogs, journals) something like $30k+ then walk away and not buy it stating that we just found out about that $3700 a year renewal fee.

Since Sedo continues to not listen to Common Sense and since they continue to hurt the buyers, and since they continue to annihilate an entire extension by not holding those scumbag sellers accountable. :)

If they do try to cover their a$$ with that blanket statement, and with us having NO Way in Hell to actually confirm whatever the renewal fees are then they should be accountable along with the Sellers who should be penalized somehow/some way.

Sedo wont make this a priority until it hits them financially, imo.

I think it's better not to bid at all on party.tv and to popularise the info about high renewal fee.
They need to chill out a bit with this domain. I remember in one of the recent Great Domains auctions it has reserve something around 50K EUR (or something like that).
Could you imagine that Sedo will allow such reserve for ANY of dot tv we own? I think no.

Regarding the statement, I think, Vito, they would do nothing. During last 3 years Sedo is ruining itself generally (and it's not only about .tv names). All new changes are sucks. I guess some smart people from domaining pointed to them that what they are doing is wrong - but with no result. I think in a couple of years Sedo will become history.

I remember this story as well.
Sedo declined domains of mine like ecology.tv and wanted a no reserve on others while I see them list domains like paytv.tv, whostherenotme.tv and this party.tv for $$$$$(being a premium at the same time)???
Sedo employers are wicked...

I have an identical story like that for THIS very auction.

They contacted me for Rehab.tv
The letter said they were inviting me to submit my Rehab.tv for this August Great Domains auction.

So I replied and gave them my reserve, along with about 10 other of my killer dot tv domains w/reserves.

My reserve was only 5k, and they said No.
I came bak one more time a day before the auction kicked off and said ok, I can lower it to 4k, since Party is at 3k I figured Rehab with dual meanings was worth twice as much I was sure they would get rehab in there for 4k.

These A-holes who invited me into their auction still said No. What kindof B.S. is that?

This is the second time they've invited me to their auction then basially said Oh yeah Its a Killer name and we want it but you you canNOT have a reserve!

Vito - no, I don't have the backorder, I was just annoyed to see yet another SEDO piece of crap auction.

How difficult is it for the owners of these names to state that the name is or isn't a premium?

I agree, and especially with the bolded part! The cr*p method with which decide which names get through the special auctions is especially appalling!

How difficult is it for the owners of these names to state that the name is or isn't a premium?

And what guarantee we have would have that seller state is true or false?

I am not blaming sedo much about that problem - there should be a way to check domain renewal fee through enom/verisign.

I was about to bid for one name, but I was unsure of it renewal status.

I contacted enom and some other contact I found regarding .tv domain registry, but nobody replied to my question. What sedo should do? Call verisign for every .tv domain which is listed for auciton or sale? I guess they have same problems about knowing renewal price same as we do.

Verisign will not discuss their pricing structure with non-registrars. I'm not even sure they would discuss legacy premiums at all.

ONLY the seller can really reveal that a name has a steep renewal fee/or what that renewal fee is. I wouldn't expect ENOM to reveal details of a contract to a third party.

If it doesn't say stay away.

Is there something you need to do for them to specifically invite you to submit your .tv names for their auctions? I've never been invited to submit any of my names & when I submit anything on my own accord, they've always been rejected!
