Mara,
Great PR! Nice to see a company that's not afraid of informal contact with its customers.

Hi All,

As was noted in this thread there ways to scam parking programs and buy traffic, it's occurring across all parking programs. We do everything we can to protect ourselves and our parking partners while at the same time doing everything we can to minimize the customers with perfectly innocent but 'unusual' traffic who get caught up in the fake check. Clearly, it's very difficult to define traffic, but with such a huge number of customers and such expert knowledge in the field, we are normally very accurate in exposing fakers while protecting honest customers.

RedHippo, if you have not received a response from a member of our team, please email me your user name and I will look into this for you so we may resolve this asap. In the process of making our parking program better for all users and protecting the value of the cpc, some innocent customer have been caught up, but simply respond to the email so we may rectify the situation. Please do not see this as a personal attack on you or your credibility, we are simply trying to determine where strange traffic originates from.

Feel free to email me with any questions - [email protected]

I had a similar problem with sedo a couple months back. I spent weeks corresponding and was lied to repeatedly. Eventually they just removed the name from my account without crediting me for any of the clicks.

Hope you have better luck than me. If not, you can always report them to the FTC like I did. Be sure to keep hard copies of all your stats and correspondence. If sedo continues on their current path it won't be long before this stuff is needed for legal action.

I am not understanding the click process, we get paid when someone clicks a name in regards to our domains?

I listed mine, but did not park though...

Can someone fill me in a bit though....

Thank you kindly,
Jewel

Mara,

Although i am happy to have received last months earnings, i am very dissapointed at the way sedo dealed with me concerning this very same issue.... 1st i receive an email saying that 90% of my traffic is fake and i will not receive my earnings for the previous month...reading this email i am blown away at this nonsense and write an email back to sedo for an explanation...you write back saying that a detailed examination of my traffic showed that it was not natural and that i can leave my domains parked at sedo, but would basically get the same result the next month if my domains receive the same 'traffic' and that my domains would then be removed from sedo's parking service...at this point, i am boiling because i know my traffic is legit, so i wright back a long email claiming the validity of my domains...at this point i am so pissed, i start moving my domains away from sedo... the next day after having to vigourously defend my case, i receive my money from sedo...the day after that i receive an email from you, saying that the whole thing was caused by an automated system fault, and that after further analysing my account, a majority of my domains (all except one domain...i guess thats considered a majority) do appear to have natural traffic...so why is it that in the 2nd email from sedo you say that my domains were analysed and proved to have fake traffic and in the last email, you say that they were analysed and proved to be natural traffic....

what really angers me in this whole situation is that sedo immediately assumes that someone is at fault, and then bullshits you saying that you are really at fault without having actually verified this...that is untill you really get mad...furthermore, the one and only domain which according to sedo did indeed receive fake traffic, had been parked at sedo for months and up untill this incident, not a word concerning the validity of its traffic, which i still doubt very much would actually receive any fake traffic whatsoever....i dont see why someone would pay to send traffic to one of my domains and this 7 months after i picked this domain off an enom drop...

I have heard this type of thing happen to many other domainers and am surprised that sedo has not yet revised their customer service techniques to at least not put oil on the fire when such situations arise...In the past year, i have had a few similar incidences with sedo and franckly i am tired of having to fight every time something goes wrong with sedos website, automated systems, domain sales, customer service...etc...

At this point i am not certain to do any more business with sedo in the future, as i have other things to do than fight all the time...As much as i have very much appreciated sedo's service in some cases, in others, it was a true nightmare....if i only dealt with sedo, i might think i was the problem, but i do alot of daily business with many individuals and companies in the domain biz and never have problems like these with them, i think its time sedo really reconsiders the way they do certain things...

I doubt sedo is going to consider anything i say here, but if i can help anyone with this post, thats all that counts...

Hello Matrix1976 and NP members,

This month we used an automated system to tighten up our parking checks. Due to an error the entire monthly payment for very few customers (including your account) was wrongly withheld, instead of only the payment for the select questionable domains. You are understandably frustrated. We did discover the glitch and are in the process compensating those affected.

We truly apologize for the inconvenience.

As always feel free to email me with questions or comments.

i just receive this 4 hours ago..and it still doesnt explain which domain is at "fault"

Hello,

We only accept natural traffic for our parked domains. This means only type in and search engine query generated traffic. We cannot accept any form of promotional traffic, such as that derived from ppc advertising, direct solicitation or promotional software.

Our advertising partner is only able to negotiate good commissions if we provide high value traffic. Unnatural traffic has no value to the sponsors who purchase ads to be displayed through our parking program and they will not pay for it. For this reason its imperative that the traffic coming in to all of our parked domains is natural, high value traffic.

Please let me know if you have any other questions. I'll be happy to help.

Best regards,

Jxxxxxxxx

did you read my post at all!? ...aparently not...thats the kind of politically correct response which doesnt mean anything concrete and which sedo excells at....

you say that 'you are in the process of compensating those affected' does that mean that we will get compensated for the hours we lost because of this!? if so, let me know, i will send Sedo my bill...

These look like the sort of typical canned responses I have come to expect from sedo. It seems no one there will actually take the time look at your individual situation. They just cut and paste some canned response that means nothing. I think most of their customer service people are drones who are afraid they will be deactivated if they deviate from protocol.

I spent weeks corresponding with them. In the beginning they denied everything. Then they admitted there had been a problem but insisted it had been solved. I called them on every lie and provided evidence to prove it. I even sent them my log files. They auto-responded bravely to the bitter end. When it comes to sedo customer service, persistence is futile.

I needed this. More validation and *motivation* to keep trucking on current projects and continue moving key domains to my own server and dealing directly w/ the affiliate programs, while keeping "for sale" names at the exchanges. Which reminds me...

it only takes 10-14 days for them to answer an email. And it feels like an automated answer.

I Found the best way was to call them direct, This seemed to work well and they sorted everything out as I was on the call to them. Can comment on email responses as never went down that avenue

The direct person approach worked very well and i recieved a good service

I agree completely. Sedo's piss poor customer relations inspired me to make my own parking page for the name they were cheating on. Within days I was making $15-$20/day instead of the $1/month parking with those scammers. Thanks Sedo!

Hi, could someone explain to me how exactly you make money with sedo?

Please...
In an earlier post, you mentioned that you had *listed*, but had not *parked* your name/s at Sedo. To make affiliate earnings and receive ppc, (pay per click) earnings, as is being discussed in this thread, it is necessary to park the names. To do this, you must go to your registrar, and change your name servers or DNS, (domain name servers) to Sedo's name servers, (NS1.SEDOPARKING.COM, NS2.SEDOPARKING.COM). Your domain will than resolve to a Sedo "Parked" Page w/ a list of links to businesses who have an affiliate arrangement w/ Sedo and from whom you will earn ppc income , when visitors click on one of the links from your domain and land at their site. Additionally, there is a "For Sale" link that will land a visitor to a Sedo sales or "Offer to Buy" page for the domain name..

Also, you should optimize the name by 1.place it in up to 3 appropriate listing categories, 2.choose the keyword that best fits. You do these 2 steps at Sedo. (1.under "Parked Names" 'Optimization' -- 2.under " My Listings". Hope that helps.

PS You can do the smae thing at other exchanges, ie Afternic and Fabulous, (requires pre approval), as well as som "ppc sites" ie DomainHop.
