I have negotiated an agreement for the sale of a domain through Sedo. We have proceeded to the point that I have received a transfer request, and Sedo is holding payment, awaiting confirmation of the transfer. Problem is, the transfer recipient details do not exactly match the buyer name Sedo provided.

Buyer name provided through Sedo:

Name: XXX Company: Eudommarketing ltd

Buyer name as provided through eurid transfer request:

Name XXX Company: Euro Domain Research Limited

Safe to proceed?

You should be fine. If sedo already has the funds in escrow there should be no problem. The person who initiated the purchase may not be the same person who will be listed for contact if this is a company purchase.

Thanks for responding... and I agree with what you say, and doubt there is any funny business going on, but, but doesn't sedo check to make sure the whois matches the name of the person who made the purchase, before releasing funds? I mean in this case even the company name doesn't match exactly...

The buyer might not appreciate having his details posted on the forum. :)

Good point - changed the names to XXX but left the company names in tact.

I take it this is one where Sedo doesn't have an account at your registrar? (So not a GoDaddy or Moniker?)
I always feel more comfortable when Sedo takes possession of the domain name via "Push" instead of one directly b/n two parties - that takes on less the role of "escrow" and more of "He-said-she-said-cop".
You can always call/email Sedo support to ask - if you call, get the name of who you talked to.

actually it is godaddy, but you can't push eu names like you can others...

Should have guessed it was a .eu with the names you listed above ;)
In any event, if it wasn't for the time-frame restrictions and the renewal cost, I'd still prefer Sedo (Or escrow.com) to take actual possession - heck, that's "escrow" to me!
Best of luck,
-Allan
