Sedo Proposal for One-Letter .Com Domains

According to recent proposals, ICANN is considering making one-letter .com domains, such as O.com, available to the public. These domain names would be extremely valuable to any potential owner due to their branding potential and the simple fact that they are extremely memorable. Most experts estimate these domain names could be worth up to six or seven-figures each.

They should be given to charities that most deserve them as no 1 has a good chance exept the big companies y.com = yahoo.com for sure.(you know how the rest goes)

Were these taken from the former owners or were they all expired/deleted ?

if I remember correctly when a single L.com/.net dropped ICANN would hold back and not release... so some are in "circulation" and being used i.e. x.com others are held back by ICANN

yep, looks like paypal (or someone else) is holding x.com since 1993..

Back in 1993 all singel letter domains were registred by Jonathan Postel / IANA. They are now reserved. But ahead of that several domains were already registred, today you find a total of 6 domains:

q.com - Qwest Communications International Inc.
x.com - X.com Corporation / PayPal, Inc.
z.com - NISSAN CORPORATION LIMITED
x.org - X.ORG Foundation, LLC
q.net - Q Networks / BRADLEY W. ALLEN (Not resolving)
i.net - Inet Corp.

Nissan bought z.com years ago. X.com was an internet bank company purchased by PayPal before eBay purchased PayPal...

it must not be the most effective use of those domains. They simply redirected to their other sites.
