Sedo Never Fails To Surprise Me

I sold a name at Sedo more than a month back.

Got an email about a week back that they've received the payment.

Then they send me an email to initiate the transfer request.

Fine enough.

But here's the kicker: my domain was registered at 1and1 (I know..newbie mistake), but the email to initiate the transfer came from GoDaddy.

So practically, I'm asked to transfer my domain from a registrar its not registered at...heck, they even provided me with a transaction ID (which obviously doesn't work).

I contacted the people at Sedo, but obviously haven't heard back from them.

can this be it....

sedo wants you to give them the authorization code of the domain name at 1and1.
Reply them with the authorization code so that they forward the message back to the buyer who can then complete his transfer (he should the one using the transaction ID and PW) at GD.

<added>
I suddenly recall this.

This is how GD transfer works.
-Buyer initiates his transfer at GD.
-GD looks for the Registrant whois info (You are the one), and sends you the message.
-You should forward this message to sedo, who in turn, forwards it to the buyer.
He needs this to complete initiating his transfer.
-You give GD the authorization code and UNlock your domain as well.
-Wait for the name to leave you(1and1)

You read the email carefully, it is all stated in it.

Good luck :)

nopes.
Sedo is GIVING me an authorization code to start the transfer from GoDaddy (while the name is at 1and1). Its as if they got the entire thing wrong and assumed that the name was registered at GoDaddy

So, Sedo mistook you as the buyer??

Where did they get the authorization code of the domain name from?? when you are the one having the name. lol

Just got an email from the Sedo people.
They mistook me as the buyer and apologized. That email was supposed to go to the buyer, not me (they actually asked me to forward them the email).

What a bunch of morons...
