Sedo .TV Auction Ends With $800K In Sales: Our Winners & Losers | The Domains

--

I told him its funny how some people look at certain domain prices as Winners VS Losers... i.e. Mike sees the GEO's (i.e. Japan) only selling at $10K as losers... while I see them as some of the smartest purchases.

To each his own... ;)

My best purchase of the day: I saw Guide.TV hit $20K+ and remembered that I wanted the plural, which was sitting on the premium list... for much cheaper. It'll still meet my needs just as well.

What an exciting day this has been. I'm sure some losers (the usual suspects) will try to rain on this parade... all I can do is smile and wait for the next round of announcements.

Congrats to all the .TV auction winners, buyers & sellers.

Guide.TV was actually one of my "sleepers" ... I am quoting this to follow / track unique, stand-alone .TV developments on these now published 'Top 5' Sedo Premium .TV's, IMHO; :gl:

business.tv $100,999
learn.tv $41,000
christmas.tv $32,000
home.tv $31,000
guide.tv $29,500

Thanks for the post,

In all respects this truly was a great auction and to me not only because of the sale prices but because 111 of the 115 domains listed were SOLD.

Jim,

No I didn't buy Guide.TV

I would've liked to acquire the pair: Guide (sedo auction) & Guides (premium list) as both would work very well for my development needs. When Guide.TV hit the top 10, I rushed to lock down the plural before someone else did. Of course there will be traffic bleed to the singular, but that problem can be easily minimized with an ongoing awareness campaign and some other solutions that have worked very well in the past. The plural actually makes more sense for my business model (though the singular is superior in many ways). I look forward to learning who picked up Guide.TV - plenty of room for everyone to coexist peacefully... and potential collaboration opportunities.

[Jim, PM sent.]

To the buyer of Guide.TV: if you're out there reading this, PM me here or check whois and email/call me.

Thats 100% my friend, a lot of people had problems bidding even after $9999, because you can purchase domains on Sedo for any amount of money, but if you are in an auction you have to be certified for bidding from $1-$10000, $10000-$100000 e.t.c... Im sure a lot of people didnt know that untill they found themselves in the position of bidding above a certain point, and well, you know, :) , try to get yourself certified for a higher bidding status, in the 3-10 minutes left in an auction for the domain that you want, its impossible. Not that im saying it is Sedo's fault , it's just that you never think about it untill your cornered in this situation.

I am personally very thankful that there was this check in place - it is less likely for people verified not to pay when they have gone to the effort of sending in documentation as required.

If they do not follow through, I believe Sedo will name and shame?? and then that person will be banned from Sedo and no one will do business with that party.

There were indeed excellent sales across the board...there are still huge issues that need resolving before .tv can really reach for the stars - I hope and pray for all of us .tv pioneers that Verisign does the right thing and reward instead of shaft the early adopters of the extension.

It would be one small step for Verisign, and one giant leap for most of the people who have been on this forum for the last 3-5 years.

I am already seeing some big .commers sending out feelers looking for people to get involved in big time .tv projects. I hope they take off. I am getting a few nice low xxxx offers for some of my names from the goldrush.

These offers will only increase in volume and amount as time goes by AS LONG as the powers that be dont screw everything up!!

BTW - CableTV - did you buy Cable.TV in the auction?

Regarding the announcement of the recent 'Top 5' sales of ".TV's" in Sedo auction;
business.tv $100,999
learn.tv $41,000
christmas.tv $32,000
home.tv $31,000
guide.tv $29,500

... have these successfully closed/escrow, and are we now privy to the identity of the respective buyers?

^ Agree. :gl: :imho:

Thanks kindly for any update(s)/insight,

It looks as though none have closed yet. They all show sedo auction for whois so they are most likely still going through the system. Can anyone verify if even one of the .tv premiums have updated whois for the new owner?

Sending money/changing servers/receiving money/ and changing accounts uses the business day method...so very little has happened between Friday (1 business day ) and Sunday evening.

Yes I noticed that a couple days ago and a damn good buy! How many days do winning bidders have to pay? For some reason I think it's 7 business days but I could be wrong.
