How effective are Sedo's featured listings?

I am thinking about buying one, but I don't want to throw $40 down the drain.

If the name is fair quality and decently priced it might be worth it. Whenever I list a domain as Featured, I just increase my asking price $40. You'll get a lot of "Views of offer" but not necessarily actual offers. If you intend to push the name to auction, keep the minimum offer price very low.

I've found that I have more offers/views of offer when I buy a featured listing for Sedo US and Sedo UK ($10 more per region).

Also, make sure you have the option enabled to link to your entire Sedo portfolio. Potential buyers may get a little curious about your name and see what else you've got for sale.

If you're selling the name based on its quality rather than its traffic, delete the name from your Sedo portfolio and re-add it. The "listed on" date will be set to September 2008, and potential buyers will think they're getting a good deal on a name that just went up for sale. As a buyer, I don't want to think I'm getting ripped off buying a name that's been on the market for two years.
