Are the featured listings worth it for the money? which one would you reccomend? I am debating putting a domain or two up in the top featured catagory and was wondeirng if its worth the $?
Are there other more effective advertising means?
Thanks in advance

Depends on the domain ...

Send email's daily to relevant End users, IMHO! :gl: :talk:

PS. Never heard of much successes with paid listings, either ... in my view.
Best of Luck.

i have only used sedo for "featured", but was dissapointed every time. its expensive too. im not a big sedo fan but they do seem to be the industry leader and their free service is a must have and they are improving. :imho:

is anyone using sedopro.com? they offered it last week but i didnt take them up on it.

Hi Loscocco,

I have tried both in the past ( distant :) ), too be honest unless it is a real premium domain, one that you are realistically going to get $xx,xxx for ) I would not bother.

Most of the people going to these sites looking for a decent domain will be willing to spend the time to search for it, so are not really going to take much notice of 'Featured' domains.

On the other hand if your domain is going to be of a lower cost and you are willing to pay the fee then it will help as people looking for these type of domains take more notice of featured listings.

In my opinion for a domain in the mid $xxx I would go for Afternic, however getting on that list is very difficult as it is very limited and is only open when someone drops of the list.

Personally I still think the money is better invested in getting hosting, putting up a site and buy some advertising.

It is difficult to say with any accuracy without knowing the domain name you want to promote.

Also feqatured listings are quite good for decent quality domains that might not show up in the searches potential buyers will make.

All the best.

Thanks Jeff,
I have done some EndUser mailings but never seem to get any responses at all. A year or so i did one featured listing on Afternic and did not seem to get that good of results. One of the names i am considering putting up there is www.Qool.com
THanks

Hi Erin,

I don't know what price you are looking for Qool.com but you might have a few problems.

Firstly, what market are you aiming for ? The site you have up is VERY dedicated to one market, which limits your options .... I know the video is pretty standard for music, but it really does imply adult.

I don't know what traffic it gets, but would imagine it is minimal.
The other thing that goes against it is really going back a few years ( but turns up in searches ) :
http://www.complaints.com/february2003/complaintoftheday.february4.2.htm

When it was an auction site back in 2001 it did get some good feedback, but it looks like it slipped.

The problem is that any potential buyer is going to have to overcome that, so it does lessen the value.

I hope you have built up some visitor stats, that will really help.

All the best.

Richard
