Sedo seems intent on pushing setting buy now prices on domains lately.

i.e "Over the past week, 569 transactions took place on Sedo’s marketplace and via SedoMLS, totaling $1.2m. 53% of total sales were the result of Buy Now listings."

In my opinion the numbers they provide mean nothing without being able to compare the price points that 'buy now' domains sell at versus negotiated 'make offer' sells. What do you think?

They have been focused on that for a long time now James, I agree with you that it would be a help to know what sold from each selling designation.

If the top 20 sales each week sold through negotiation and it was more handregged .net and .org that sold for $999 that is data worth understanding.

If 53% were Buy Now, then 47% must have been Make Offers. I don't see that as majorly significant reason to switch to Buy Now pricing. The way Sedo have been trumpeting Buy Now prices for years, I would have expected a much larger differential.

Afternic, who told me directly "We are not a Make Offer Marketplace" when I kinda complained to them the ratio offers received when setting a price after I have received their "We have received an enquiry. The buyer is not ready to proceed yet. Please set your Buy Now Price and Floor Pricing" (or something like that) was <1%. Basically telling me to put up with all these low-ball enquiries, if my pricing was Make Offer.
