I currently have some of my domain names parked with namedrive.com. I have also added each domain name to the url of each google, msn, and yahoo search engine. However, when i type in the exact key words of my domain name, they never come up on Google (i.e. I type in tvonlineguide.com, and never see my parked website in the google results. instead I see tvonlineguide.net?). Does anyone know how I can change this to make my domain name come up when key words are typed in a search engine? Bugs the hell out of me. Thanks

The answer is very long ... but some of the best things you can do for desired SEO is to develop a useful website (versus a "parked page"), ensure that the title, description, keywords, and meta tags are relevant to the developed website and its usefulness, have it be linked FROM other similarly developed, useful websites with significant Page Rank, and always be adding new, useful information and content relative to the objective of the site - adding an active "blog" area, for instance - and continue to stay on top of evolving SEO techniques, IMHO.
Of course, there's much more to it as well. :gl: :talk:

Got it? Awesome. :)

All the best!

It can take weeks (months?) after you submit to google to get indexed...and a parking page may get indexed and then dropped.

I'm not 100% certain of this, but its helped me get a site indexed in google quickly

1. Develop it (with at least 10 pages of relevant content)
2. Do as stated above with titles/meta tags etc.
3. Create a sitemap (search in google for "google sitemap" and do as it says)
4. Bookmark your site using sites like digg n other social marking sites.
5. Find forums related to your sites content and try to post url on them (without spamming).

The above worked for me for several of my sites. Got PR on each of them start at 1 or 3 in one case. Plus getting good traffic and adsense clicks.

If its just for parking traffic/google indexing, then.. I'm not really too sure about that. One of my domains gets 8,000 uniques a month - but I think thats because it was previously a developed site.

Thanks. I am not looking into paying for hosting with these domains, rather just parking them. I already have to many hosting accounts with other domains. Why would your url get indexed and then dropped from Google? Reps

If it's a simple affiliate / "parked page" (not recommended for SEO) ... and not offering a developed, useful, informational, and an unique experience to those searching for its specific search terms, then the Google algorithm will most likely punish it and drop it from its indexing, IMHO. :guilty:

Think about it ... is it in Google's best interests to have a bunch of optimized "parked pages" in its top results - that do NOTHING for those searching, the consumer, in fact ... Google's loyal users and customers? :red:

Well put. I think that should answer your question very well OP.

ask yourself, if you were a major search engine, why would you show parked domains on result pages?

domain embarkation

I just discovered a new method of "parking". It is called domain embarkation.
They set up your url with an 8 page site and there are blogs and polls and advertising and you do get income from the ad clicks. I am going to try it out.If anyone has tried this before,,,please let us know how it worked out.

I seem to recall that there was a thread about them not too long ago, and I seem to have an impression that it was not very favorable, but I don't remember for sure. You might want to do a search.
