search.biz has just sold for 1,200 usd from Sedo's auction on 24/07/2016. I think it is still cheap and can't own it with this amount if buying directly from its owner. At present, there are some .biz on the marketplace sedo auction but no one special like search.biz. Do you think .biz is getting better in the market?

Anshul again...
Maybe, it has been auctioned among domainers... that's why $1.2K only.

I think so, not end-user buying.

Auctioned off quite a few at no reserve in the past couple of weeks, def looks like domainers only buying.

This is what top keywords are fetching in .biz. The TLD isn't worth much and never took off.
The flood of new extensions is not going to help.

Where were you when Web.biz sold for $19200 the other day? or when hotel.biz sold for $25000 or gold.biz sold for $20640 or casinos.biz sold for $19000 or when about.biz sold for $15000?

Just because one or two domains are being sold cheap that doesn't mean entire collection of gtlds are weak. Right keywords with right gtlds will fetch good prices whether you think or not.

I don't even own that many ngtlds in my entire portfolio but I just feel it is wrong that you keep pushing your anti ntld agenda every now and then. People could make money by investing low and waiting for few years.

from your post, you sound far more like osmeone pushing their own agenda than Kate.

.biz and other ngtld are deadend. and its crucial for everyone who publically claims otherwise (you), that someone says the opposite. this way domainer lives can be saved.

feel this!

Conversely, using .biz sales from 4+ years ago doesn't exactly help prove that .biz are on the up

If these sales are confirmed (finalized), they are among the few exceptions. There are very few .biz sales in the five-figure range.

search.biz selling for $1200 is the confirmation of 'normal' market conditions, unless we see more sales like Web.biz in the future.

I'm not saying you can't make money. What I'm saying is that it's not a good investment overall.
.biz sales are automatically 'capped' at 4 figures no matter the keyword, with very few exceptions.

But here we are talking about a name that was registered in early 2002, shortly after .biz was released. It's not like you can register names like these in .biz. Just buy some .biz now, and wait "a few years". You'll see :)

Trying to think of why a end user will buy and develop "search.biz"...to compete with Google?

I own around 500 domains and have them diversified in which I own like 10 ngtld for long term investment. That's it. Although there are many people here who are making a living out ntlds and when you say that ntlds are crap, it's like pissing on someone's plate.

Don't you read? I wrote "other day" for web.biz. What is so wrong about 4+ years? A sale is a sale. Whether it happened yesterday or 4+ years ago.

I agree with you somewhat. Obviously handregistering .biz domains is going to bring no good. But hand registering good keywords along with ntlds and aging them for few years will bring great returns. Look it sales like Loan.info, Car.info, Mortgage.info etc.

I do read, every other comp you used is irrelevant considering it was during a time people thought .mobi and .tel would change the internet. When considering unpredictable nTLD comps from 4+ years ago, "a sale is a sale" is useless for everyone other than the person who sold it.

Excuse me? 4 years wasn't the time when everybody thought that .mobi and .tel would change the internet. It was in 2007.

I have owned and sold .biz since 2006. To both investors and end-users.

I can firmly vouch for the view that the TLD is inferior compared to the other legacy gTLDs. Never appreciated in value and only barely kept it.

I think it was ill thought out from the start, its aimed at business entities but looks unprofessional, like a teen would write business in a text message.

Who would want that as their professional store front. Skater and surfer stores perhaps, but others?

$1200 for Search.biz = ridiculous
Great buy ;)

I don't think so. The word "Search" can be use in so many things; and all kinds of activities. This if you are creative enough..

if i was seller, I would never take risk to sell it on no reserve auction...
Unbelievable price....

Kinda like "thinking outside the box".

Kinda disagree...I see the extension ".biz"and I think of business (biz) so search business (or the business of search), kinda limits the use. Maybe great name for a SEO/SEM site that specializes in getting you on page one for your keyword(s).

short one word domain like search.biz for only 1200? certainly wholesale price to domain investor.

I prefer with dot Biz(business image) rather than dot Org! so, 1.2k for searchdotbiz seem fair! at least the previous owner no need to pay reg fee anymore! win win solution, and nobody lose! except for the ppl that make speculation this and that.

Actually, I still make money mid.$xxx monthly from .biz even though I don't invest into .biz much. Recently I have just recieved an offer $300 for HAM.biz but I am sure I can make it over $1000. I will let you know what is it going on later.
