Script question

just a quick question i think i know the answer but just making sure,

if i hire someone to make me a script or program or whatever, it would be me that owns full rights to it wouldnt it? and not the developer?

It can depend on the country in which this is done.

In the US, without a specific assignment of the copyright, no you do not automatically own full rights in the work of an independent contractor.

If you 2 are in the same area, put it in writing to be sure.

If you're asking someone outside your country for that, you best think long
and hard about doing it.

ok thanks for the replies, if i got it in an email stating he hands al re sale rights etc over to me? its nothing major if i dont get them but id hate to seean idea that already out there with modifications i decided upon being sold to anyone and everyone
