Legal issue regarding script

Hi guys

I am a web developer.
I have been developing scripts and sites since about 4 years.
I am confused regarding the sale of scripts on namepros.

I planning to sell a script very soon. But when I went through the threads in 'Scripts for Sale'. I found developers mentioning that their script is copyrighted. But as I have heard copyright costs are high. An especially not affordable by someone who has really no money. And copyrighting a $10 worth script to sell it would ofcourse be foolishness.

How should I go about with this?
Also what is this thing called "Reseller rights"?
Does this come into picture when I sell my script(I am the author of my script)?

Copyrights are free. Registered copyrights are not that expensive. You are thinking about Trademarks or Patents.

Search the web for "how to copyright" and do some reading.

Reseller rights mean that you give someone who purchases your script the right to resell it.

Copyrighting only costs like $30 I think to register it with the government. Technically, you don't NEED to file for one, you are automatically granted a copyright when you make something. However, if someone steals your work and resells it without your permission, you need to have a filed copyright to sue them for damages. But of course, that would cost money as well...

The reality is... If you don't have the money to take someone to court, there is probably not much benefit to filing for one. Because whether you have one or not, people will probably steal it and resell it. Thats just the way the world is...
