domains .Science soars to 10,000 registrations in three hours

Famous Four Media launched the .Science top level domain name this morning, and registration activity has been brisk so far.

At roughly three hours after launch, 9,680 .science domain names have been registered. The company expects the number to top 10,000 within the next half hour.

Why is .science doing so well? It’s not all rocket science: some registrars are giving the domain names away free or cheap, spurring extra demand. Kind of like .casa and .work, why not try it out for a year?

If each domain can make him $40 in that 1 year he'll break even. Shouldn't be that difficult parking them and achieving that goal.

Only a very small fraction of established domains make $40/yr just from parking. Take away the ones that are tms or are getting traffic from previous website links and that fraction grows even smaller. To any newbies don't expect any significant revenue from new tlds, especially a registry that just launched yesterday, literally. I would be very surprised if even 1 name out of those 300 makes that from ppc. Newbies investing in .science and other new gtlds don't base your investments on ANY expectations of seeing significant ppc revenue, at least not in the short term. Invest smart.

Out of the 300+ that I registered.. I was in a mad rush to register them yesterday just like many of you guys.. after going over the names I would classify maybe around 100 of them "good" and maybe 20 - 30 out of that "premium".. and perhaps around 10 - 15 of them as "keepers" to keep until I can get full value.. there may also be 1 - 2 that I keep for personal use

so out of 300
100 - I would say are "good"
20 - 30 - I would say are "premium"
10 - 15 - I would say are "keepers"
and only 1 or 2 - I would say I may keep for personal use

I agree with you 100%, we all have our work cut out for us. Considering the ppl who were aware of this thread actually paid 0 cents for a bunch load of Domains I still believe it's worth the risk if your're willing to put the work behind it. When I first started I didn't know a damn thing about parking and flipping. Thankfully sites like this and many others I was able to change my "Newbie" status into xx,xxx net a year.

Exact match .COM's with the keyword 'science' aren't exactly flying off the shelves.

Why in the world do you think that .science has any value worth adding them to your portfolio?

Yes... domain hacks etc... but then the other 40k? Rubbish.
