School Cancelled - Not Because of Snow - Beceause of Vandalism

Wow,

So I wake up, take some friends to school as usual, then go to my own school and just as we're getting over the hill of the school, the radio says that all public schools are cancelled for the day.

We're like, HUH!? Because the weather was fine, yeah, we got our first Iowa snowfall of the season but it's less than 1 inch and just a little windy at 25 degrees.

So we tune into another station, and they ditto the remarks. We go to school, I open my window and a school attendant informs us that school is cancelled because of vandalism to the school bus' brake lines.

So we come home, see a bus going back to the "Bus Barn", figuring it was just dropping off the kids it picked up.

Great Now I have a lot of chores at home to do instead of taking my geometry test. Bah, which would YOU choose?

Been many years since I've had to worry about school.. now if only my work would close for a day!

UK is meant to have a really bad winter this year. Hopefully that should mean quite a few days off, last year we got about three days off because of the snow :D

But I've never had days off due to vandalism or bus damage

Been many years since I had to worry about school. Being a stay at home dad though I prefer school to be open as I have a 12 year old and when they have a "snow day" it is shear misery listening to him whine about how bored he is. Seems to forget he has a room full of junk to play with, 500 channels on the idiot box and the internet.

Will, I hear its Supposed to be really bad this winter as well, Im down in Cornwall though so we dont usually get the worst of it, Hows it at your end?

i would choose the school obviously because you are with friend etc etc. but really unbeliavable that vandalism is taking this range and importance

Yes, and those few days off were a joke! There were only a few inches of snow. I was in Germany at the same time on a college trip, and we had almost a foot of snow, and everything carried on as normal.

back in the day up in bonnie scotland you only get a day off if a certain amount of teachers cant get into school or the snow is really bad which it never is ..

What grade r u in? I have geometry in 8th grade right now :o I thought you were 16 or 17?..

back in the day up in bonnie scotland you only get a day off if a certain amount of teachers cant get into school or the snow is really bad which it never is ..

Back when I was about 12 or 13 (now 26) There was 1 year when here in Dundee we had about 4 feet of snow.

I'm 15 and in 10th grade - Geometry is standard math here for 10th graders, I'm in Honors though....
