Hello!

I represent a businessman from EU and have been tasked with acquiring tokemon.com for his new business project to be launched in May, 2015.

Your domain name is at the top of his shortlist of names, and he would be prepared to pay up to US$15,000 to secure this domain name.

Time is of the essence as he needs to secure the domain name as soon as possible, so his Corporate Communications department can prepare the relevant logos and letterheads.

I am available to discuss this transaction at your earliest convenience. I look forward to your reply.

If you have more domain names for sale, please email me the list. I may help you to find buyers for them.

Regards,

Yes, it most probably is.. Play along and if they ask you to buy an appraisal or domain verification of some sort then you know it is a scam..

So here we are: (Why is bad if he wants an appraisal or domain verification? I have never sold any domain, so I don't know the process...what would be correct?) :
Before my client buys he will need two things from you:
1. Screenshot of your domain account. It will prove you are a legitimate owner.
2. Domain certification from Domain Tools.
This certificate includes two essential things: an appraisal of the market price and a trademark infringement verification.

My client is an experienced investor and he buys certified domains only to avoid potential risks with trademarks and overpriced/stolen domains. So simple certificates from GoDaddy or Sedo do not suit the needs of my client. Before he send the money he needs a complete certification with a valuation and a trademark infringement verification.

Please send the screenshot and the certificate to my email.

If you are new to the certification process I can help you with step by step instructions.

But..why exactly?

Well, first of all plenty of domainers including myself got the same or the same phrasing just as you did. From my knowledge you pay for an unreal "appraisal" and they don't get back to you..

But those it matter? A fraud is a fraud haha

I Googled then I have found some discussions about this scam .. there is the same text, just name changed. Also the arguments after asking more info are exactly the same..but I think every normal person must uncover it..I am beginner, I never sold any domain and on the first sight it's clear. I cannot imagine a person who would really pay..

Tell him that you would sell to him $14,000 - $1,000 less than what he offered if he can provide:
1. A smug shot of his face
2. An appraisal of how many years he will send in jail
3. His birth of date, address and phone number so you can contact FBI

I think it's a deal for both parties.
