Anyone receive/come across the email below?
Got my email from the 'whois'. Never bothered to check website.
Header shows it comes from Israel.

I've received a handful over the past 2 yrs for various names.

I suspect it's either:

1/ appraisal scam (not the usual wording tho')

2/ email harvesting

3/ someone looking for dirt cheap deals

Second time (after i responded the 1st time and got no response), I asked for $50 for a name that was worth much more - just to see the reaction...but still no response..

However, has anyone taken it further?

Dear Sirs,

I am interested in buying your domain: <Domain name>.COM

If you are interested in selling it, please reply how much would you want for it ?

Thank you in advance for your time.

Ask them your desired price, and if they respond wanting an appraisal from you do not reply again :)

Not a large enough amount of text to say so definitively one way or the other. No harm in responding with an offer, but never pay for any appraisals or "verification" services, etc.

Why do you think it is a scam?
I'm getting / sending mails like this sometimes and almost all were true buyers.
Just mail back and let us know.

See added edit.

Well, the fact that it's the same inquirer asking about various (different category) names suggests it's unlikely to be an end-user and therefore 1 of the 3.

I have gotten similar emails recently... ideas? The "Dear Sirs" part worries me.
