Hello NamePros community! We are creating a single thread where we can share announcements in, talk about product updates, people can ask questions and host a great discussion on all things domains!

There is a general feel of sloppiness recently, especially when we talk about software/website developers. It is not just with SAV, I'm talking generally.

Maybe it's just me but, during the last 2-3 years, when I see the word 'update' or 'upgrade' or 'we are excited to announce...' for tools and services that I use, I get worried.

It's not just you...

Hi,

Is it possible to use marketplace funds (from sold domains) for new domain registrations and purchases without withdrawals?

This is what i want but they don't allow this that's why i stopped listing names there.

Hello Sav, how to withdraw into bitcoin?

Blame the AI crap implementation into everything. They think this will ease everything and bring more money but it will sink without humans to sustain it, stupid morans are ruling.

Is anybody else having any troubles with Sav recently? I already lost at least 9 domains there because even after I renewed them successfully (I still have the receipts) they apparently auctioned the names as expired. After renewing names they seem to be renewed normally, whois records show them as renewed - pretty much everything looks just fine. And then all of a sudden 12 days later or so I receive emails that names are transferred to Dynadot. I contacted Dynadot and they said names were won by third parties in expired auctions. So how is it possible for a name to be renewed successfully and then auctioned on another platform? And I am wondering what happens with the double charges - once I am charged a renewal fee at Sav and then someone else on Dynadot is charged a renewal or transfer fee for the same name without expiration period to be extended.

Unfotunately, this sort of stuff has been going on for years @ Sav. :( I can only suggest you contact their support and hopefully you'll be refunded. After that, my best suggestion is to transfer your names out of Sav prior to expiry. There is a lot to be said for having a reliable registrar, even if it costs you an extra 50c per domain.

Sav, please, your new auction interface is terrible/slow. And why do I have to upload a photo ID, after 2 years and 2-300 expired auctions won and paid for promptly? Until you get your security in check, not getting my ID.

Thank you.

I'm guessing this is a rhetorical question since Sav doesn't read/respond here, and really don't seem to care what their customers think...

Yes, lol, I'm just warning people to think twice about uploading an ID.

If you are an EU citizen you might not have a choice due to NIS2.
It's not just an ID (I wish it was), NIS2 requires a ridiculous amount of documentation.

Tnx.

In US here, in fact Chicago, right where Sav is located.

I wonder if they blanket ordered ID to cover themselves for NIS2.

My recent experience is, unfortunately, negative. Domain renewals using PayPal go through but the actual renewal fails (rejected.) Support advised me to use the new Domain Manager (V2) as opposed to Legacy but that did not work either. Instead of renewing I then opted to transfer out the domains.

Update: Authorized charges to PayPal were canceled and I was not charged. I consider the renewal process to be problematic.

I have used Sav.com in the past, mainly for expired auctions. This is my first experience with "v2", whatever that is.

I have never experienced more of a pain in the butt when simply trying to bid on an auction.

1.) I try to place a bid and it says you need a saved payment method. OK, add a credit card.

2.) I try bidding and receive the error -

"Before placing a bid, please either make a purchase with your (visa ending in XXXX) or select account credit as your default payment option."

3.) OK, I add $100 to my account credit via the that credit card. I still can't bid, as apparently that did not count as a "purchase".

4.) So, I switch the default payment method to the account credit then get this error -

"Before placing a bid, please either make a purchase with your (Account Credit) or select account credit as your default payment option."

I am basically stuck in a loop where I can't bid, so I contact support.

After a 45 minute chat, where the support rep seemed to repeatedly ignore what I said, I was finally told -

"To place a bid in the auction on the V2 website, please first register any domain with V2. Once your domain is registered, you will be able to participate in the auction bidding. If you need any assistance or have questions, feel free to reach out. We are here to help!"

Who designed this stupid process?

I did that, and registered a domain that I have no interest in just to bid.

Guess what...I still can't bid.

Silly me, I somehow used Sav.com to register the domain as requested.

It is in my "v2" account, but support told me the following -

Hello, we have reviewed your payment on V1 Braintree. Please make your payment using V2 with Stripe or your account credit. That is why you are receiving the same message. Kindly try to register on V2, not V1, using Stripe or your account credit. If you need any assistance, please let us know – we are here to help!

It's really awesome to have redundancy, where both versions suck.

I wonder how many domains I am going to have to register in order to bid.

How does anyone actually bid on this venue?

Brad
