Hello,
I just read this from Yahoo Messenger, Somebody sent me this link: Source: http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/healthnews.php?newsid=45887

and got this news:
Seven Cadbury chocolate brands have been recalled due to salmonella contamination. The Food Standards Agency, UK, has issued a Food Alert for Action. Cadbury Schweppes responded by recalling the seven brands - they also issued a press notice on June 23.

โ€“ Food Alert for Action.
โ€“ Cadbury Schweppes Press Release

Products should be returned to:

Cadbury Recall
Freepost
MID20061
Birmingham
B302QZ (United Kingdom)

There is a free helpline at (UK) 0800 818181.

The following products are being recalled:

โ€“ Cadbury Dairy Milk Turkish 250g

โ€“ Cadbury Dairy Milk Caramel 250g

โ€“ Cadbury Dairy Milk Mint 250g

โ€“ Cadbury Dairy Milk 8 chunk

โ€“ Cadbury Dairy Milk 1kg

โ€“ Cadbury Dairy Milk Button Easter Egg 105g

โ€“ Cadbury Freddo 10p

Over one million chocolate bars have already been removed from shelves in the UK.

Apparently, a leaking pipe at Cadburyโ€™s Marlbrook chocolate factory in Herefordshire caused the salmonella contamination. The fault in the pipe was discovered in January, 2006. Samples were sent to an independent laboratory which identified a rare strain of salmonella (salmonella Montevideo). Cadbury Schweppes says this is purely a precautionary measure. Levels of contamination, they say, are well below danger levels.

The company says people should not be alarmed if they have eaten any of these seven brands. They can contact the company if they want a full refund. The Food Standards Agency is carrying out its own investigation and advises people not to consume the products. The Health Protection Agency is carrying out a separate investigation.

Symptoms of Salmonella Gastroenteritis

โ€“ Sudden onset of nausea
โ€“ Abdominal cramping
โ€“ Bloody diarrhea with mucous is common

Salmonellosis (salmonella infection) has no real cure, only the symptoms can be treated. Less than 1% of cases are fatal. Symptoms usually appear within 6-72 hours after the it enters your body. The patient usually recovers after 5 to 7 days. The main thing to look out for is dehydration. A complication can be when the infection spreads out from the intestines.

If your diarrhea is severe you will require rehydration.

Antibiotics are used when:
โ€“ The illness persists
โ€“ The infection spreads out from the intestines

db, what kind of freaky country do you live in if you don't know what a yard of dairy milk is?

Next you'll be telling me you've never seen a 5kg bar of chocolate or a chocolate football!! ;)

And re: the salmonella outbreak, they recalled the affected products a month ago and removed them from sale.
They are working on improving their testing procedures so it won't happen again.
The chocolate for sale now is safe to eat. :)

Oh whatever....

A yard is a measurement of distance, equal to 3 feet.

A yard is also a term for your "lawn" "patio" "grass" etc. even your backyard.

There's no such thing as a "yard" of milk. Stop making up stories. Crazy foreigners. :p

I for one would be comforted by the way Cadbury reacted to this.
No one got sick. The levels of Salmonilla were not even significant enough to cause an illness. Cadbury voluntarily recalled the product out of an abundance of precaution.

Contaminated Cadbury's chocolate was the most likely cause of an outbreak of salmonella poisoning, the Health Protection Agency has said.

About 36 out of a total of 56 cases of the illness reported between March and July could be linked to the product.
Not to mention the fact they knew about this way back in January and failed to act on it. Hopefully lessons have been learnt.

Is that before or after they've gone through the fingerprint and iris scanners? :|
