I've had this running since August 1 of '07. I've put the minimum amount of effort needed to have it earn at least some income - I'm not interested in running a popular proxy on any of my servers. By minimum effort I mean submitting to only about 150 directories for backlinks and two or three proxy lists. Those who run proxies know building lots of backlinks on the right sites gets you the traffic to your proxy - I never bothered!
So if I've put in the minimum effort why should you be interested?
Here's why:
Start with the domain name - not only perfect for a proxy, it's what people actually type-in when looking for a proxy. Natural traffic has been increasing month over month. You get type-in traffic AND great search engine traffic right away!
How many proxies get the vast majority of their traffic from the search engines - let alone rule a great set of on-topic keywords on google? I've been getting solid search engine traffic to a website that I've neglected on purpose - imagine what you could do if you tried!
Earnings:
Complete adsense earnings are below - you will notice days in December and January where impressions tail off - that's because I pointed the nameservers to my parked.com account on those days. Earnings for that are also below. Adsense earnings are going up - even with days missing!

So far my server fees have amounted to - nothing. I have been running it on a shared server and total bandwidth has been where I wanted it - low!
