Sale listing on Whois

This one guy who was interested in one of my names sent me an email the other day asking if his offer on my domain listed on sedo was ok and if I have a different price in mind and I dont even have a domain listed on sedo or any of those sites. Almost all the domains I bought here or on ebay have this irritating "Buy Now" or "For Sale" on Domaintools' Whois, estibot, etc and I guess its because the guy who owned the domain before me had it listed on their website. Dont you think we would actually be losing some real nice offers when this happens?
I really think sedo & the other people should run a kinda whois check or something of that sort and ensure the guy who listed the domain there is still the owner of the name. Do you think there is a way I can get rid of these listings?

I agree - it's irritating.

I also resent having "this domain MAY be for sale" on my Sedo parked domains. Sure, everything is for sale, but why make it so blatant. Unless there is a specific asking price, I believe Sedo should do away with this message.

Probably Estibot and some of these others get a cut if a sale results when a buyer clicks through from their sites.

The sedo listing, totally! That way I like Namedrive better. They just have one "Contact the owner of the domain" and that atleast dont make it very obvious. The sale cut, I am sure they do get something out of the sale.

I wonder if there were any Sedo listing scammers. I mean the sellers who dont own the name now. The possibilities are very high. You pay me for a domain offer I accepted and I dont transfer it to you. Simple!!

You can tick 'domain not for sale' box so interested parties will have to contact you via whois.
