Hi,

I have seen a lot contests prop up in the past few months, some have come up with unique ideas for running contests while others are just imitating other successful contests.

I think it would be fair and better for the forum, and forum members if the contests are uniques. That is if one of the forum member comes with a great idea for running a contest, other members shouldn't be imitate his idea.

Like Duffman has had an excellent idea of running a contest. A similiar contest shouldn't be allowed by other members as it would steal his idea of the contest.

I know I will be pissed if somebody copy's my "Domain Contest" idea and starts running his own contest.

Your comments and opinions much appreciated.

Thank You:gl:

I agree to an extent.. if it's something like the reg team lotto.. that's not copying DuffMan so much.. but I saw a new member start a lottery. That's something I don't think should happen.

Yup - something like not being able to start a new thread in the contests forum till you have reached a certain number of posts would be a good feature - cuts down the potential for plaigarism as people would have been around for a while (in theory) and so would have gotten to know the rest of the good folks here at namepros well enough to respect their ideas for the contests.

I think all members that have a contest idea should post about it in the 'Messages To Staff' forum, before they actually start or they go ahead and post it straight off.

This way, the staff can think the idea over, and if need be, contact other contest holding members about this idea if they think it's a 'copy'.

I also think some kind of 'comfirmed & offical' badge should be given to the contest holders, just to clarrify they are actual contest holders. Maybe an extra title under their name, or a little icon under their 'Trader Rating' status?

:)

Right, it's a matter of etiquette not to copy someone else's contest idea. You can always voice your disapproval for a contest by not participating in it. If you're looking for more oversight, maybe we need a contest coordinator? I do want to make sure the contests area remains fun and fair while not being over-regulated.

A contest coordinator would be a great idea, I think. He or she could just help out with contest scheduling and make a calendar listing of current contests...

I agree it would be a great addition to the forum.

I "Contest Coordinator" sounds like a good idea, that way the contests can be moderated and such.

Like the idea. I don't think we have to specify who and who can't run contests though. If it gets approved by our Gaming Coordinator then that should be enough. If "trust" is a concern then maybe the $ wagered can be held by a Staff member or something so people won't have any concerns about how secure the wagered money would be.

I agree. I think what would be good is have the gaming coordinator hold the np for the contest and can approve contest and be mod in the contest forum.

Sounds like a fun job.

Maybe the gaming coordinator could have a seperate account to hold NP$ for contests?? That way all contest NP$ could be held there??

yea I was thinking of that too. and maybe to stabalize the community like rj was asking about a contest holder will be charged say 2% of the pot or something and that np would be collected then sold to the bank and that money could be for the better of namepros. or something.

Of course, we would need to discuss some basic guidelines, parameters with whomever first before being selected as official Gaming Coordinatorโ„ข ... but both nominations and volunteers are being solicited at this time.
Please post in this thread (or begin a new thread in the "Private-to-Staff" area) if you'd be interested in assisting to keep the "Games/Contests Forum" cheery and organized.
I would say someone with good organizational and scheduling skills, a willingness to assist with keeping things lively and fun, sensitivity to fairness, and more of overall overseer to ensure things aren't duplicated, that multiple ongoing threads run smoothly, etc.
Applications being accepted for Namepros Gaming Coordinatorโ„ข.
Thanks kindly, folks.
