Review: I thought I got a good deal in buying this script for 50% off, but now I think that I may have only gotten my money's worth, or perhaps a little less. I had been planning to set up a Linux computer and install Nagios which is a free site monitoring application that has been around for over 8 years. It's not for beginners, but it's one of the best and most powerful computer, server, and process monitoring applications you can get.

But when I saw this script offered I thought the price was reasonable and that it had most of what I want. And I could maybe get a few paying customers to help offset the cost, but that was not my main concern.

The script is fairly easy to install if you have done this before, but part of what you need to install is listed under a section that talks about the PSD they provide, and not under the INSTALL section. The script still works without it, but it's the section that provides graphs for the reporting.

I've got 3 accounts set up and am monitoring about 12 sites right now for my self and some clients. Things mostly work ok, but I have one site that I am monitoring that keeps showing up as "down" when it's not. There's NOTHING to tell you WHY the script thinks the site is down, like a tracerout or descriptive error message, so I don't know at what point the problem is located.

My main complaint with the script is not the script itself, but the level of support I have been getting since I starting contacting the company. So far on the 3 issues I have raised with them I keep getting told things like "It's in the readme file". "Ok, WHERE in the readme file is the answer I am looking for?"

I keep asking very specific questions looking for a direct answer and I keep getting back general replies that make little or no sense. And I have been doing this for a while. Those that are more clueless than I am are really going to have a hard time working with this company.

At this point I almost wish I had not purchased this script because I feel the support is some of the worst I have ever encountered, and I have encountered some really, really bad support in the past...! What makes me really bitter is that I paid a fair price for this script but feel like I am being treated as if I got a discount review copy or free copy.

Summary: The best server monitor script (outside of Nagios) I have seen that runs as a service you can offer to customers, but in my opinion doomed to an awful failure if they maintain the dismal level of customer support and lack of helpfulness with their product. If you are a PHP programmer or have one on staff and don't mind providing your own support, you should be fine. Parts of this script are encrypted so there may be some things you will not be able to modify.
