I have acquired a name that i feel has quite a bit of value. From what I have read online there is a company in china called HeNan Roady Road Equipment. Been around quite some time and said to be a "famous" company.
I have ro/ad/y/road any ball park ranges of what i should ask for this domain?

First, you are missing the first word of the name.

In China this could be an important thing.

Also could be a trademark problem.

Be careful about contacting this company or you could wind up with a UDRP problem.

From now on you should not post domain names in their full format so search engines will not be able to index them.

Instead, try to obfuscate the name somehow.

Also consider that Roady/Road/Equipment///com is available.

There is a reason this company, that you say has been it business for a long time, does not already own this name.

You should do some more research and find out more.

They are using a few different domains. How would I go about checking for a problem on this?

Regardless if they have a registered trademark or not, you are running a risk offering a company, especially a company that has been around for a long time, a domain name that has all or part of their company name in the the domain name.

I do not see any other possible end users for this name.

I would not offer this name to the company.

I would just sit on it until it expires or just delete it.

All of us have regged names like this and then realized the problem.

After all these years, sometimes I jump the gun and still do this, although unintentionally!

There is another possibility. If you type that domain into google a hot shot company comes up which has numberous domains.

If you want, just list it quietly on the marketplaces.

You might sell it.

But, do not offer it to that co.

You could get lucky and make the sale or it could be a big mistake.

No crystal ball here.

It is a risky thing.

Personally, I would not do it.

This is a great example of why a professional should give an appraisal. "RoadyRoad" in the context you suggest is worth something.

Otherwise, it's just a 9L, 2 dictionary words (slang noun/noun combo) without much SEO effectiveness and which would probably be worth a hundred bucks if you were lucky.

As far as presenting a potential trademark problem, nothing could be further from the truth. You wouldn't have more problems than holding RoadyRoadEquipment.com which is still avaliable right now.

But, since the value is hypothetical, not factual, I hope you know how to communicate in Chinese or how to deal with those people.

Regards,

I am not a fan of registering a name with one end user in mind since that really limits your options and puts you at risk if it is too close a match and they could fight you for ownership. If you can come up with 10-20 possible end users, you have a much higher chance of making a sale.

There is a reason this company, that you say has been it business for a long time, does not already own this name.

This might help whichever path you choose
