Hi All
I thought I would ask if anyone wants to share any rewards credit cards they use for Domaining. I spend a couple thousand a month on advertising and noticed I have earned enough reward points on my credit card to have earned a trip to Hawaii already in just five months. Anyone else using credit cards for arbitrage or advertising and what kind of rewards do you get like cash back or travel? Im looking forward to Hawaii. :hehe:

I like the gift vouchers my card offers me. It's free money. I get about $500 worth of gift vouchers every month. Perfect for that forgotten birthday that seems to always crop up :)

I just use my flight miles card - - pay on the card - get my comission - pay off card - fly back to see family for Christmas!

I extensively use my Chase United Mileage Plus card and find it a great way to add miles real fast. It's pretty good. I also add my Marriott reward points and Hertz Gold Club points to my mileage plus account. That makes it worthwhile, because I get miles for the hotel charges/car rental + my hotel/car reward points get converted to miles. As a result, I have 2 roundtrips to South Asia destinations yet to be redeemed. :)

How does spending money on your credit card domaining have anything to do with "Parking & Traffic Monetization" ...

There are a lot of reward credit cards, but I've never seen one that is made for domainers. Would be cool, if GoDaddy came out with one, so much spent = so many free registrations.

Well I spend money on my cards to drive traffic to my parked sites in order to monetize them....and cash back from a card and rewards adds into the equation its like found money or a perk for using credit cards to pay for advertising while monetizing your site. I think its an appropriate section for this topic and was just trying to point out that if you spend money on your domain business a rewards card is something to consider.

In this context I think the credit card topic is appropriate. It's another stream of income that many (like me, duh) may not have thought of.

Forget Godaddy, why doen't the staff here see if they can swing getting a NamePros Domainer Card created for us to apply for?

American Express for me as well and I have it registered in my domain business Tax ID number so the business is not only recorded as a profitable business but is establishing a hefty line of credit as well.

I get 2% reward on the amount I spend.

This thread got me thinking if I could get even more out of my internet spending and domain parking earnings.

I'm from Asia and my home currency is an Asian currency. I have a Paypal account and currently I have all my domain parking income paid into my Paypal account. As for domain sales through escrow, I have them post the cheques to me. Clearing the cheques take about 1 month and usually there are the (local and overseas) bank clearing charges as well as the forex losses.

I'm thinking if I could do any of the following:

1. Apply for a virtual credit card with the default denomination set to USD. This is to accept my domain parking income and pay for internet purchases. Basically the card is to replace my Paypal account because, Paypal doesn't reward for my spending. Also, it should allow me to withdraw the cash from ATM at my country for a low fee. This way, I don't need to wait for 1 month for the cheques to clear. However, my research tells me that virtual credit cards from the banks are only offered to people residing in the US.

2. If I can't apply a credit card, then I'd be interested to apply for a debit card.

Why a virtual CC and not use a regular credit card? Most people never think about this, but if you owe $100 and you pay your credit card company $150, you will have a positive balance of $50 that you can then spend. You will not get any interest on this, I think, but it allows you to keep your money in one place.

So in your case, you could provide your credit card number (JUST the account number) to a buyer and have them make the payment to the credit card company in your name. You should get the money quickly with NO FEES! When you see the money is in your CC account, you can then turn over the domain.

When you spend the credit card money, you should also be getting rewards if you have a rewards card. Am I correct in my thinking, or am I missing something...???

Rewards credit card is good idea.

Giving someone your credit card number so they can make your payment is the opposite of a good idea.

It's not that bad of an idea. Of course if you can provide another account number and not the card number that would be better, but just giving the card number and not the exp. date, full card name, and of course the little number on the back, should be pertty safe.

Besides, you are not responsible for any fraudulent charges. BUT if you use a debit card, you may lose your money, at least for some period of time, so it is wise to be more cautious with a debit card since they are NOT the same as a credit card in several ways.

well, you should try it and let us all know how that worked out for you.

seriously, you do know charges can go through with just the number.
do you think the cc company is going to refund false charges after they learn you went and handed your cc # to any tom, dick or harry?

No, I don't know how charges can go through with just a CC number. If that is true please post a link or two to information that can confirm what you are saying. My understanding is that a charge cannot be processed without the name on the card and exp. date at the least. I know can't buy anything online if I put in the wrong exp. date...

And I would not be handing my number to just anyone, but a selling that wants to buy my domain. I would of course, confirm their identy first. And I hand my card to all kinds of different people everyday when I buy things. They not only have my number but can copy all the other information that is on the card, so how is that more safe than my just giving out the CC number alone?

I think this is certainly a stone unturned!

Credit Cards for domainers - provided by all the big registrars! They make more money and you can earn rewards (free/discounted regs, hosting, other stuff).

Great idea!
