I'm missing the tie back to Nascar or any sport for that matter. Your board graphics and coloring are rather "toxic" than racing. I'd consider custom graphics to begin with. Favicon would help as well.

The categories are the logical choices, however, you should emphasize them with images if you can. Same goes for New Topics/ No New Topics, use custom images for that, eventually a checkered flag or something along that line.

It doesn't really portray "Nascar" except that one car you have. Give it more color, Nascar colors. I'm not really feeling the green, like Intel said, its toxic rather than Nascar.
