games.eu was won by: Name Dolezal Thomas Organisation vupp.com Werbegesellschaft m.b.H

ask.eu was was not won by Ask Jeeves Europe but by First Internet Technology LTD

First Internet Technology LTD also got game.eu

BBC got bbc.eu (surprisingly they were the only applicant so they had no contest)

The American Embassy's application for usa.eu was rejected.

BAA lost out on baa.eu to a German registrant. The same Geman registrant got bit.eu

Jaguar Cars Ltd did not get jaguar.eu. that was won by a Dutch Trademark holder.

Maybe some of those who didn't get their chosen .eu should have used the law firm Lovells. Lovells secured many names including Amazon.eu for Amazon.com and Playboy for Play Int.

http://www.lovells.com/Lovells/Media...omain+name.htm

For example, BAA's first application was with Netnames and it arrived at 11.08. A second application from Netnames arrived at 11.17.A third one from Total Web Solutions arrived at 12.51. On behalf of Amazon Lovells submitted 22 applications through different registrars and the first one arrived at five seconds past 11am. At that speed BAA.COM would have got baa.eu because the first application from the successful applicant arrived 1 minute 58 seconds past 11am.

www.markmonitor.com, on behalf of Ford, submitted one application for jaguar.eu and that arrived at 11.29. The successful application for jaguar.eu arrived at 48 seconds past 11am

web.eu has been given to www.bergisch.de
shopping.eu is now the property of [email protected]

Afilias.info is third in the queue for info.eu so that result is worth watching out for.

casino.eu has been issued to a Dutch trademark holder.
directory.eu has been awarded to: http://www.krischenowski.de

If your Sunrise application was rejected, or if the deadline for sending in documentary evidence has expired it is possible to apply again, and then correct whatever mistake that caused the rejection.
A common mistake we have seen is that not everyone has realised that only the holder of a registered trademark can apply for it.

Trademark, what's that??

As expected it is going to be a total farce as the overseers "Price Waterhouse" will have looked no further than the first so called "tm" applications and generic names will in general be given to the biggest crooks:

These are tm applications for generic names with the number of applications for each name:

sex 236
hotel 123
travel 97
jobs 93
hotels 92
casino 85
business 80
poker 79
golf 75
shopping 72

Farcical :!:

Can you believe that "First Internet Technology LTD" (Ask Jeeves) got two of the most sought after domains! Grrr :td:

You will find that many of these so called "tms'" were created specifically to get the .eu domains. :(

I repeat- it is a huge farce JMO :td:

Hehe, i thought the BBC would get some competition.

I was just thinking if ask jeeves can sue the new owner as TM maybe?

You can name "Game" a sort of meat or a your handmade cookies and hold a TM on that.
So, if you hold a tm for cookies, you can protect your cookies or meat named "Game" in EU by holding a domain name game.eu. :)

If they were quicker than Jeeves, and they have been accepted there is no arguing. They have a right to the domain 'ask.eu' as much as ask jeeves does

Since the work ASK is so generic doesnโ€™t this seem at least a little like reverse domain squatting by major company?

I don't think they have the rights to decline the results once they applied...

It will be very interesting to see how the common word contests turn out. I wonder if there will be some back door deals going on, and if so what will the consequences be.

I wish you didn't have to live in the eu to register one of the domains, I have a few really good ideas.

As I said earlier - Price Waterhouse have absolutely no idea of the "fraud" going on under their noses - and eurid, yet another toothless dog - we would be well rid :(
