A. http://www.whois.eu/whois/GetDomainStatus.htm

B. Type-in Jewelry.eu

C. Very top application, which claims Registered National Trademark in Netherlands, is from "First Internet Technology Ltd" apparently "based" in London, UK. However, e-mail contact listed with this application has someone at "FirstInternetTech.com as a contact"

D. FirstInternetTech.com whois shows nameservers pointed at "NS1.IREITHOST.COM"

E. IreitHost.com whois shows Administrative contact of Bob Martin of "Internet Ireit" in Houston, Texas.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The point of the story is not that these guys can't even cover their tracks so that even the third rate detective work is easily able to point at them...

The point is that this is just another example that the whole process is a farce and that the most valuable .EU domains will still end up in the hands of ruthless American speculators with deep pockets and few bogus trademarks. While most naive domainers are busy selling their useless shit names for a few bucks apiece, the "big fish" are busy readying themselves to grab a million euro domains for regfee.

But wait there's more...

this is the list of domains that Bob Martin, Stuart Rabin, Marc Ostrofsky and the rest of the IREIT greedy gang wants to steal from Europeans. Needless to say they claim to have EU trademarks for all of these:

Another one is "Lantec Corporation". They've won "wrestling.eu" and "dublin.eu". They are also first in line for "London.eu". Although they applied from a Paris address their email address at whois.eu is: [email protected]

The whois for lantec.bz reads.

[REGISTRANT]
Organisation Name: Lantec Corporation
Contact Name: Domains
Address Line 1: 8 Copthall
Address Line 2: Roseau
City / Town: (Commonwealth of) Dominica
State / Province:
Zip / Postcode: 00152
Country: DM
Telephone: +001.7653874408
Fax: +001.7653874408
Email: [email protected]

How many other domains they've applied for and won I do not know but I'm sure it is a few.

It's not Icann's fault, its Eurid based in Bruxelles.

is there a way to complain, or do you think we should do a petition and get a list together of the domains registered by people in the USA and send it to eurid?

The Americans are too smart. They know how to make money.

but if we can prove it I am sure they should be taken away?

You can just tell this is going to cause major problems,

Hope they have good customer support.

anyway it's highly unlikely 1 person/company will get any amount of truly premium names. As long as the euro id or whoever has the say do there job right.

You know when something fishy is going on when someone applies for 100 or so of the top names. And i hope euro id does aswell.

Eurid sees everything and they still don't care. They approved and accepted IREIT for:

Ask.eu
Game.eu
Games.eu
Cellphone.eu
Chocolate.eu

and they are first in line for many others.

They're not supposed to, as per .US rules. The fact of the matter is, the .US rules are not enforced strictly enough.

so...American banks shouldn't be allowed to register a .eu presence?

This is like .INFO all over again.

If .EU becomes a parking wasteland, that just makes .COM and various ccTLDs, such as .CO.UK, .DE, etc, even more valuable.

I wonder if EURID would be bothered if 1000 or more people voted on a online petition saying that we won't buy eu domains or promote them if they don't sort their act out?

(but then I am not sure what power we have as domainers)

Please remember, that the domains were registered by legal entities not "people". Nothing wrong has been done. The companie's which have applied and won, won on the basis of their trademarks and use for the domains.

Hmm, whatever happens, people will always get around it.

I take it the restrictions are on registration not on use, so they could be registered under another company in the EU but be used by a US person?

I hope this is not gonna turn out as a "hate the greedy American" post, as it looks like its heading there.
