Hello,
I recently saw some keyword.cctld domain names in extensions that have many restrictions.
I would give as example the .gi extension that cannot be registered only by Gibraltarian residents.
How can these domains be sold? Is there a procedure in which they can be transferred lately? Or not?
Thanks

Each country's registry have their own rules, you can break them at the risk of losing your domains, but it's not really a good idea. Most cctld's are administered by a registrar in your example .gi domains are administered by www.nic.gi, just read the rules of each cctld you are interested in and stick to them. If you can't by a domain because of your geographic location I would just forget it and move on.

I already read every cctld's policies. I know them by heart. But I saw some sites for sale on sedo with the .gi extension, and I was wondering who would buy these domains, as through the policy, only residents in Gibraltar can. And Gibraltar has less than 50.000 people, so it is not a very huge market :).
I thought that there is a trick or something, in which you can transfer domains without problem.
On other cctlds there is a restriction only regarding the administrative contact of the domain that must be resident in that country. Is it safe to let somebody unknown as the administrative contact of your domain name?

Just because Gibraltar isn't a huge market doesn't mean people shouldn't be allowed to advertise on Sedo. Besides it is not just limited to Gibraltar's residents, .gi names can also be registered by companies with a registered office in Gibraltar and there are probably more of those than there are people. Gibraltar has an almost unique situation of being inside the EU, yet it is a tax free state. This enables companies based in Gibraltar to trade within the EU and take full advantage of EU trade legislation, but without paying any tax. The vast majority of online European gambling operations are run from Gibraltar. It also has another huge incentive for UK business, in that it is an overseas territory of the UK, therefore has full trading rights with the UK, but is not exposed to the UK's tough consumer laws.

I'm not sure how easy it is to trick each internet registry, but just by doing it you run the risk of losing the domain.

This is not true for many cctld's, there are some which even go as far as restricting which language your content is written in. As for the last point would you let somebody put their name on the deeds to your house?

There are currently 243 cctld's, that's an impressive feat to know all those policies off by heart.
