Type of Contest: Logo Design

Prize: $40 USD. Pay via PayPal.

Contest End Date & Time: Feb. 18, 6 PM CST

Size Requirements: Prefer jpg and vector, or a large PSD suitable for printed materials.

Color Requirements: Be colorful. This year's theme is Carnival (not in the Mardi Gras sense, in the fairway, games, rides, cotton candy sense).

General Requirements: I don't want to restrict you too much. Transparent background, should look good on black. I am very active in art direction of this type and will give a lot of feedback. I reserve the right to end the contest early if I fall in love with a design.

Note: The "2011" should be a part of the logo. Is it ok if it is "firmly integrated" into the design, as this design will be scrapped after the trade show, and a new one will be designed every year.

my immediate thought is more rectangle, less circle.. and something (an element, icon etc) suggesting carnival, not just carnival colors.

More to follow from my customer. Keep them coming!

Good use of color and gradients. I like the text layout, spacing might be off a touch. The images don't go with the theme, and the "ticket" background is wrong... looks like more of a luggage tag than a ride ticket.

The ticket outline isnt working for me at all. I guess I'm thinking something far less subtle. The top one is closest to the target. I suppose you could just add a small ticket somewhere in the logo. Or some other image (cotton candy, ferris wheel?). You could also play with the color a little. I like your color, but I really like the colors in the first artist's logo. Definitely not feeling the "bar codes" either.

Ok, our favorite is the one on the top left. We dont like the "gear" lines over the "Trade Show" text. We also think you've got a little too much pink in the skyline. Can you mix it up a bit?

Huy, this is nice, especially the mardi gras style mask. I should hear from my customer in the morning.

Here is another idea, feedback are welcome ^^

I really like the one on the right. Funny you used a unicorn instead of the carousel horse. Actually the symbol of Dallas is the Pegasus, or a winged horse. The skyline isnt distinctively Dallas, but changing the unicorn to a pegasus would still suggest Dallas to natives. I'll have more feedback for you tomorrow morning once I hear back from my customer.

Pegasus has to lose the horn! I like the orange "Dallas" in the first one. Can you experiment with the palette a little bit? A tad more green, maybe a purple in there? And can you show me how it looks on a black background? This is fabulous, just want you to know!

Also, customer asked if the top of the carousel could look more like a circus tent than an umbrella.
